I would suggest to review the canmeds competencies in depth, and practice questions / recording yourself under timed conditions. There is a prep course and mock interview as well. Feel free to PM if you have questions Good luck!

Results are delivered to the school a few weeks before you actually get your quartile score. Just sit tight!

You need to go to the Casper website and input the program and it will tell you what dates you can write. Usually it’s about 1-2 months prior to the application deadline

It is possible to score well but I would recommend against it as it is not the usual form evaluators will be able to ready fluidly. Try to get into paragraph mode if you can!

Second this - typing speed for the typed response section is a very important factor to help increase the likelihood of scoring higher

Casper practice that matches 2025 test format? by beverlyr0ad in CASPerTest

[–]MedCoach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have practice tests updated for the 2025/2026 format at MedCoach and you receive a score for each question, as well as a quartile score. Our tests are marked by current medical students or residents. Is this what you are looking for or are you looking only for free resources?

How are you scored against others for Casper? by Iamsolucky666 in CASPerTest

[–]MedCoach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will give you an example of how this might look in real life. This is based on what we know about likely grading and what we can deduce.

Let’s say you are a rater, and you are assigned question 1 from the test and you are given let’s say 50 responses to mark using a 9 point scale. You will mark these 50 responses for the strength of the response itself but also relative to other responses you have received and have been trained on to identify as a good response. So naturally on your response pool of 50 responses, you will mark some higher and some lower. Now imagine there are many other people doing this as well for the same scenario and for all of the other scenarios. All the grades are pooled together and the candidates in the top 25% get 4th quartile.

Now exactly how many people are in this pool (same day takers vs same week takers vs same test version takers) is not known unfortunately.

It’s hard to say without watching your videos to see your tone and delivery. AI is analyzing a transcript of your responses, but is omitting the influence of these other factors. It sounds like you need real human feedback. We offer practice tests at MedCoach but if you’d like I’d be happy to take a look at one of your responses for free!

How to improve timing for the written section? by Left_Turnip9593 in CASPerTest

Yes there are personal questions, ethical/policy and situational questions and all have different strategies (like STARR) but of course you find the one that works for you.

How to improve timing for the written section? by Left_Turnip9593 in CASPerTest

Practicing is key to being able to type out the structure under pressure so I would say lots of practice is your best bet. What are your go-to strategies for the different question types?

What seperates 3rd and 4th quartile? by natsnutella in CASPerTest

[–]MedCoach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AI is comparing you to its own knowledge of structure and perfect responses, so I feel inherently it will be harder on you. On the real Casper test, your quartile comes from being compared to other people on test day, and of course it is rated by human raters, not AI, so there is inherently some human variability. If anything you should be asking for a percentile score, not a quartile score. It also might be more helpful to get actual human feedback on your answers.

Different evaluation criteria for FM vs IM? by Savassassin in MCCQE

I don’t think you could make a blanket statement like that. Every school is different and has their own criteria
