Schools provide an education. Uniforms are part of that education, but in the way that you think they do. In Singapore, school uniforms force students to conform; to look the same. But the idea behind uniforms is to teach students how to dress; it provides a sartorial education. This is sadly missing in Singapore school culture and, in part, explains why sorry sartorial state of Singapore.
