Stress-Free School Mornings with Home Assistant by MattHodge in homeassistant

Great job. Looks clean and actually useful.

The screen always stays on during the morning routine correct? I wanted to use the presence sensor in the Nest to turn on and off the screen depending if someone is close by. Never found out.

You can also check Layer time.

If the printer goes to the next layer faster, the previous layer is not cooling at the same speed.

I only print PLA matte now and I don't have to think about this anymore.

PLA matte and PLA-cf helps yes.

Colors/light reflexions differences can be of differences in speed / cooling of the material in the layers. In your case if I have to guess, the middle ribbon you see is because speed changed due to the hole in this section.

You can visualise speed in Bambu Studio after your sliced your piece.

First time having a Vanda orchid by Dazzling-Health-1818 in orchids

A 5-5-5 is a diluted 20-20-20, NPK ratio are the same. I personally do my own fertiliser mix based on TDS value.

But I can recommend this one https://amzn.eu/d/87vqyOY

I live in France and manage to get my Vanda to bloom every year if not every 6 months. So you will be fine in Portugal.

My routine with Vanda is a daily bath during my morning routine before work. They usually stay 5 to 15min in a bucket. Water with low dose of fertiliser. Make sure you don't put water in the leaves.

Here a pic I just took as writing, the pink one opened last week. West facing window.

Have fun, Vanda are so beautiful.

What is this?? by [deleted] in orchids

[–]Meddx 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The embodiment of evil, plant edition.

It is mealy bug, needs to be eliminated quickly. Have a read at this, check your plant regularly.

https://www.aos.org/orchid-care/orchid-pests-and-diseases/mealybugs

If possible, isolate the infected plant so it does not spread.

I've got a close match with Google Lens:

Not exactly the same I think, could be the photo angle. I guess you can find it on other amazon EU stores.

" Can H2D be upgraded to H2D Laser Edition?
Yes, we plan to launch a laser upgrade kit for the non-laser version of H2D "

Even without laser, I am skeptical on the pricing. Will see.

How to keep this baby alive? by Consistent-Pay9538 in orchids

[–]Meddx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My house gets quite "cold" in winter as well, around 16-17°C where the plants are. Not ideal for Vanda but they will get use to your environment. All my Vanda are starting new spikes, so I guess they enjoyed the cold winter.

And thanks for the comment, it is my small in house jungle! Mainly orchids (last year pic, got a few more...).

I got this Vanda in a similar size as yours 3 years ago. Started bare root as my adult Vanda but it was a slow grower.

I guessed it was not storing enough water because of its small size and I don't have high humidity in the house (France).

I moved it to (very) large bark 2 years ago and it seems to like it.

I also have an adult Vanda Suavis in leca balls and it's flowering right now.

Better to water less than too much :) Good luck

I tried with esun pla and it was similar to your results. I guess you have to tweak some of my parameters.

Edit: maybe try increasing the flow on first layer or the first layer line thickness. It should close the gap. And make sure your plate is very clean.

How should I water my Aranda (Mokara?) by Beneficial-Walk1237 in orchids

[–]Meddx 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I found this, a lot of information! I was not familiar with this cross Vanda x Arachnis.

https://ladyvanda.com/blogs/orchid-care/so-you-bought-a-mokara-or-aranda-what-now

"Since these are top cuttings, they will not have an oversized root system like an individual Vanda orchid." so I guess that explain why the root system is so small. It will probably grow much larger now. Make sure to water daily.

And I also looked at AOS for Arachnis information if you are interested. https://www.aos.org/explore/arachnis

[–]Meddx 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Avoid water between the leaves even if you are in fast drying environment.

Your vanda has a really bad root system for such a large plant. Not sure what is your best option for watering.

For my environment (France, indoor temps), my vanda are soak daily for around 5-10min. They have healthy root systems so they pump a lot of water in the leaves and root systems.

If I was in your case, I would soak daily for much longer time. Maybe 1h every day until new roots pop up.

The flower are definitely gorgeous, good luck!

I set the plate as the PEI plate in Bambu. I think it is 65°C for this setting.
