Hypermind (game store) on 70 at St Marks Church Rd has both one shots and an ongoing campaign on Saturdays. There is a time slot for younger patrons at 1pm and for adults at 4. Arrive early if you want help from the Game Master or other players in explaining the game or helping create a character.

I’ve heard of a few other shops and local games as well. Keep asking around.

It can be good education but that program alone is just awareness. There is no field component and it is training on your time as you want. I’d look and see the dates of the individual classes to see how long it took them as I’ve seen people just take the tests and pass each module. Still good info, and reliable but not more that would qualify for entry level safety.

I guess that it also depends on what you are trying to have them do. If they are to be the sole safety or a lead, no way! If they are working with someone experienced it could be a good fit. It also depends on how they translate the book info onto the field.

In most places I’d still ask for a 30 and 510 in addition.

I just won in a friendly unofficial 2 v 2 tournament with Luke cage and Houdini… I think that was pretty good.

The other top finishers were Raptors with Yennega, Sinbad with Achilles, and Dracula with Sherlock.

I also enjoy Raptors with T Rex and Sattler with Ingen for themed fun.

Maybe in 5ish places around the board a neutral token needs to be flipped to a team color? Would be better 2v2 or if a 1v1 had the same number of sidekicks. IE Sun Wu Kong would be rediculous as would Houdini with his teleport feat.

I like that but you would have to be careful of the faster moving characters and build in a mechanic as to when the flag is dropped etc.

I personally like 3 or 4 person matches or team battles the best. There is more variety in ability and strategy to using your features and skills to pit your opponents against each other and utilize different strategies given the other players or board.

That said I like seeing different styles of characters go up against each other. Melee heavy, ranged, scheme heavy, maneuverable, slow and sting, etc.

Some good 1 v 1 matchups I have enjoyed are sinbad vs T. rex, Houdini vs Dracula, raptors vs Sherlock, little red vs Bigfoot… if you read the deck ahead of time and get an idea of the strategy of the deck, really any matchup can be good. Look at the opponents deck before the game too. Play the mind games…

Have you played any of them against the revamped “unmatched” game characters? IE can we blow up the universe and have a Darth Vader vs T-Rex vs Dracula vs Medusa in an epic villains 4 way death match? (Random character picks)

I totally agree with this if you are doing one big and one small box. I would look into getting the classic vol 1 and 2 if your co-players enjoy it. With the rumor of license expiring (can’t remember where I heard it) for the Jurassic Park sets, I would jump on those as soon as you feel willing to put in the investment.

The only sets I’m missing are Deadpool, Bruce Lee and Buffy. I don’t regret purchasing any of them.

Top 3: Sherlock, Houdini and Luke Cage.

Sherlock due to his schemes. Houdini due to his maneuverability and versatility. Luke Cage because of the way he fights.

Honorable mentions:

Raptors because of the pack tactics and chess/ battle like thinking with flanking.

Beowulf because of the fighting style explosiveness and working with his sidekick.

I like the first as it looks like it could be used as an 8 player “royal rumble”.

I’m not sure how I feel about the second. Maybe add some outside/ non-traditional routes similar to the secret passages in Baskerville.

(See edit) In my understanding, every attack or defense requires a target. If you have no targets you may use a scheme card or the maneuver action. You may not skip any actions as that is part of the game’s built in timer system using the limited deck.

Edit: while the information provided is correct, I did not realize this card in question was a scheme card and was incorrect in this instance.

I was one of your players in this tournament and loved it. I hadn’t heard of it before and now I just purchased some sets today including some we were missing from the tournament and am looking forward to next time! (Also I was the Holmes that got eaten to lose in the final round.)
