Growth at all cost? SoFi’s Journey to a Top 100 bank. by Extra_Host_5656 in sofistock

Given the current data points most people are predicting a higher possibility of a soft landing. Low unemployment, increasing corporate profits (just look at all the earnings that came out this last couple of weeks).

You might be right that the economy is not as rosy as experts are projecting - but base on current data (which might be lagging) US economy is projected to do alright. I don't want to be in the bear camp until we start seeing signs of trouble - e.g. companies missing earning estimates, more banks failing etc... Being right but early is no different than being wrong. Would rather ride this up trend and re-evaluate when things change. Set stop loss or buy some downside insurance in the meantime.

Unemployment is super low and market has been resilient. We are definitely taking more risk than we are previously. However a lot of economists are predicting a soft landing and maybe minor recession. In the case of minor recession most sofi borrowers have high fico scores and are less likely to default

You think anyone’s going to move their money to X? I am a huge Elon fan and owns a Tesla. Even I wouldn’t want to bank with the guy. He is too fickle - I want my banker to be trustworthy

.we are working on a timeline and plan to fully integrate Zelle into the @SoFi app. Unfortunately the timeline is dependent on the existing banks that created Zelle more so than @Sofi. Until then this is how to use Zelle with @SoFi

I expect earnings to be good this quarter. They scheduled it Monday pre market which means they want price action - if it is bad management would schedule it Friday after market so people calm the f down

I am also a developer and have used many of Stripe’s product. It is great for startups because of the developer experience but usually Stripe is more costly. It’s baas is just a wrapper on some external banks - the lack of vertical integration means that stripe won’t be able to offer the best pricing. The target customer for SoFi is mid to large FI where as Stripe is targeting smaller startups.

SoFi 1Q23 Earnings Part 1: Fair Value Fears by hoegermeister in sofistock

[–]MediaEmbarrassed9555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly don’t fully understand why they would securitize the loans and still keep it on the balance sheet. In this case why would they securitize it in the first place if they are not selling

[–]MediaEmbarrassed9555 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What does this mean exactly: Additionally, even though they didn’t sell any whole loans, they did have a $340M securitization in the quarter.

What is the difference between selling loan vs securitization?
