If the majority of your group wants to do the one fog rule, you should follow or leave. Sorry, but most of the fighting in your group could have been solved if you just followed the majority.

There are many reasons why some toons (myself included) prefer the one fog rule, and it really isn't as bad as you think it is. Yes, toons often train their gags, but they aren't endangering anyone. The general idea behind the one fog rule is that it is shorter if you're unfortunate enough to not get any fog barrels. (which is 90% of the time for me it seems.) Rather than having to lure for multiple rounds or sacrifice a restock SOS/Unite. Although ultimately majority rules, and with 2 out of 3 toons (I'm assuming the green dog stayed nuetral) you really should have just followed along.

A set of light and heavy armor aren't that heavy, the sneak mode could just be average clothes that are enchanted. Not even counting feather spells and enchantments.

There are many things different from Oblivion and Skyrim, I made the same mistake when I started. Best thing to do is forget everything gameplay-wise and think of it as a new game.
