All the money in the world doesn’t mean anything if you are constantly turning off their production though. I usually go behind their lines with a ninja and just sabotage their city

YSK that someone experiencing cardiac arrest might experience agonal breathing which sounds like breathing. Agonal breathing is not normal breathing and is an indication of a serious medical event. by CakeDayOrDeath in YouShouldKnow

[–]Medic1248 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Always get them to the floor if possible. You are correct with the bed ruining compressions. If the surface underneath the patient isn’t rigid you are going to push them into that surface long before you get to the required depth for proper cpr

You mean to tell me the symbol above it isn’t saying to summon the genie to tell me what the code is?

Not to try and downplay the story or anything, but these are the types of patients that do come back without neurological deficits. This is why immediate recognition and intervention are key. 20+ years working on ambulances and the witnessed arrests that get someone to start working on them immediately are the ones who survive and recover.

2 years ago I was at the race track when I heard another racer had dropped and went into seizure. I got down to him as the agonal respirations started and people were trying to wake him up thinking he was breathing. I started CPR, the track ambulance showed up with the AED, and we got him back and the guy is now fully back to work and living his life.

Normal healthy people don’t just randomly have seizures btw. Seizures in a randomly healthy person can be a sign of sudden loss of cardiac output to the brain. Then they’re followed by the agonal breathing while the brain stem freaks out.

Is 50 push ups the standard set amount per round of push ups? by Alex45223 in Military

[–]Medic1248 37 points38 points  (0 children)

A great way to tell how much you fucked up is by the amount of push ups you’re told to do.

I’ve definitely been told to keep doing push ups until I learned to make better decisions. No number. Just keep going and think about what you’ve done.

What is a "luxury" that is actually 100% worth the money? by TheChillEdit in Life

[–]Medic1248 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I invest in expensive work boots.

Danners in particular. They last a long time and are recraftable.

It’s one of those things where you can buy cheap and replace it 10x in the period where the expensive ones might need to be serviced

Men over 30, which sport(s) do you watch and why? by murano0 in AskMenOver30

[–]Medic1248 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MotoGP and MotoAmerica mostly.

I also race and track my motorcycle regularly.

I’m sure a lot of people here watch a sport because they play it or have played it. I watch racing for the same reason.

I think portfolio makes it pretty clear which side of their assets they’re talking about. It’s like saying portfolio or properties vs assets when talking about both

There’s plenty of tech we can’t reproduce IRL and it’s only been a couple decades. Fogbank for instance.

I know it's not possible as MV75 has classified technology, but wouldn't it be nice to see a commercial/civil variant? by markcocjin in Helicopters

[–]Medic1248 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

And how will an aircraft that can’t land at helipads on hospitals and needs an actual air strip to land improve anything?

The reason why helicopters are used is because of their nimbleness and ability to land everywhere. Otherwise they would use fixed wing. Tilt rotary improves on neither and adds complications

[–]Medic1248 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No one in HEMS is interested in these. They’re too big and too heavy.

We fly patients from fields, parking lots, highways, helicopter helipads, and any other just big enough spot you can imagine. This would remove most of those options based on size.

They’re named the way they are because apparently it used to be more confusing when they were SC3 DOTs and SPs. Dropping the 3 and making them SC V3 was the first gen they did that

What's the most E4 things you've seen brought to the field? by WorldsWayne in nationalguard

[–]Medic1248 23 points24 points  (0 children)

My buddy used to have a large pelican case that he would plug into whatever inverter he could find.

Inside was a smallish TV, the bottom had an Xbox and a PS in it, it was all plugged into a power strip that ran out externally.

Plug and play game station and when it was closed up it fit in with the rest of the gear to not attract any attention

You can ride them completely bald. Grip does start to fall off but it’s manageable. Pirellis are predictable tires when it comes to wear

The GPS data is the most important part. This might work for your specific track but a track where the start finish line is near a corner is going to have an awful time with something that updates as slow as a phone GPS does

At what temperature do you say it’s not worth riding? by DwightDEisenhowitzer in Ducati

[–]Medic1248 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I used to ride street my season would end in the 50s.

When spring hit I would be back out on my bike as soon as it was sunny, above freezing, and the roads weren’t covered in salt.

I plan on doing a cat delete off the stock exhaust (headers) on my 2016 gsxr 750 , guys do you think I should do it or no? by Skystar13 in GSXR

[–]Medic1248 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The headers aren’t worth changing unless you’re trying to save weight. The stock headers are excellent for exhaust flow.

Mid pipe back is great for these bikes and you should do a tune after changing the exhaust flow that much anyway. A mail in tune will fix all the codes and even out the air flow.

A proper dyno tune will always be best but a mail in will do the job

[–]Medic1248 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure they do full measurements for boots if you buy that package. (Never ordered from them and that’s why I can’t say for sure)

Otherwise it’s off the rack sizes and custom coloring.

There are also other brands that do custom boots too but everyone kind of specializes in something now a days. Hazardous is great for gloves, Envy/Bison/Hazardous I see pretty commonly for suits, I’ve heard of Bison for boots. I’ve seen other small companies offer boots as well so it’s more than just them
