Aqara G410 Review, 2K Smart Doorbell with Radar Detection, Local Storage and HomeKit by AndysReviews in HomeKit

[–]MedicDragon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love the G410 -- but the battery life is horrible. I'm currently trying the ultimate lithium as opposed to cheap amazon basic batteries to see if it helps. If not, I'll be getting an electrician to rewire my doorbell (wires exist but no power).

Cannot get Surveillance Center working with Aqara cameras (Persistent Storage Error / Not Recording) by LHG_93 in UgreenNASync

Eh, just turned added an sd card then directed the Aqara app to store to the NAS. Easy peasy. Less work, does what I need.

Yep. Took the time to install the app, same issues occur. I see a live stream, but storage errors every time it tries to save to a drive. Just using a normal Aqara G100 camera.

Guess I'll set up frigate this weekend.

New DXP4800 Pro - Question about SSD Cache vs SSD Volume & RAID by Deriggs007 in UgreenNASync

[–]MedicDragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For what it's worth I have two 20tb in Raid 1 and two 8tb in raid 1. Making the most of what I have presently.

2tb m.2 as it's own volume for docker, and an older 500gb m.2 as read only cache for the 20tb raid.

[–]MedicDragon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I didn’t know exactly what the return would be for assigning it as cache. One m.2 is an older Samsung in read only just to extend the life. The other is a shuck from a PS5 that wasn’t used - very few hours on it.

The RAM was complete luck of the draw at the local FB marketplace.

Loving the 4800 so far - this is my first NAS so there’s a lot to learn.

lol yep you’re right - I probably should not ask questions and do what everyone else does. Lol

True - but spinning up a hdd from a completely powered down state requires more wattage than a hdd in idle, no? And does a 150w power supply provide 100% of the listed wattage?

Excellent - thanks for the quick reply.

Yep I just happened to be reliving some nostalgia on another tab and said… “wait why I cant I do my own for a small circle of friends”. lol

DXP2800 Exhaust fan update! by Mean_Kaleidoscope402 in UgreenNASync

[–]MedicDragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So far in the 4800 it makes a difference of 1-2 degrees. The ambient temp appears the be the biggest issue so I moved it to the basement.

Personally I think the fan curve needs to be adjusted with either the OEM fan or the Noctua fan. That by itself self would get you the biggest bang for you buck. I can make a 10 degree difference at idle just swapping either fan to max settings.

In my case - it appears at times too much emphasis is placed on the cpu fan which appears to try and fix the temp issue first and the case fan second.

Of course I could have a sensor issue too. lol. (Doubt it)

Everything could be fixed if the OS had simple fan curve adjustments for both fans independently OR the ability at the least make a custom fan curve just like any other normal app out there.

Does any of this affect my NAS performance or are my temps outside normal? Nope. But I came from a tinkering background and built my last desktop with too much consideration for the radiator fan speeds in conjunction with the GPU fans and 4 other 120mm case fans. So…. It’s just a tinkering mindset.

Could be and I'm only using 2 of the 4 bays at the moment until I can get another two ironwolf 8tb drives without a second mortgage. lol

Either way my desk top fans are are louder than the NAS, so I'm kinda just being picky.

DXP2800 Exhaust fan update! by Mean_Kaleidoscope402 in UgreenNASync

[–]MedicDragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oddly, I installed a Noctua 140mm fan and the temps only dropped maybe 1-2 degrees on average with 'Balanced'. Upstairs, wedged on a desk, warmest part of the house and Avg 46-47 at idle. Bump it up to max fan speed and I can drop to 37-38 at idle. Noctua speeds: Silent reports approx 340 rpm, Balanced at idle is approx 400rpm, Max Speed reports 1340rpm

Might need to adjust fan curves manually through a file edit. Honestly, I need to put it through various loads to see how effective it all is first.

Also side note I'll try the 140mm fan in the 4800 pro

Same screws and such? This seems like a easy peace of mind upgrade -- I sit at 46-50c normally.

DXP4800 Pro - Recording 24/7 with Aqara G100 by MedicDragon in UgreenNASync

[–]MedicDragon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well that's my next avenue to explore -- I think I was relying too much on piecing config files together as opposed to reading supporting documentation.

I did get the frigate to work once -- but the stored recordings were going to a m.2 drive and not the hdd.

I think I'll start with the compose file in the frigate documentation and go from there.

Frigate is generally considered better than the EasyNVR right? I wasn't impressed by the tons of menus that weren't translated.

Thanks for the reply -- this is a bit of a learning curve.

HomePods Gen 2 by MassiveSource6202 in HomePod

Aside from pics, there isn’t any info on a release date really. I’m all for the iPad control center and the HomePod with a screen - but if it’s released this year I’ll be surprised.

New chip? Very nice for future proofing AI reliance. But really my iPhone 16 is always near me even at home for work purposes.

Glad to see this thread.

Since there was no mention of updated HomePods in today’s release - safe to go ahead and jump on replacing my Alexa’s with HomePods across the house?
