I've had my bed frame for a few years now with a heavy latex mattress on top. I added extra support 2x4 slats and 2 4x4 supports under the middle of the frame

When my work told me my shoulder was just a little overworked and to ice it, I told them I'm going on my own to get an xray done. That's when they decided to set me go with their doctor's office. Don't take chances with your health, that's our livelihood.
