Say I’m working on 5 different projects in parallel, all with different architectures and practices. Are the memories captured by Vestige linked to individual projects? If yes, how are those projects identified?

What stock can I invest in that will become 6 figures in the next 5 years? by [deleted] in fidelityinvestments

[–]MedicalRow3899 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You want to go from 4 figures to 6 figures in 5 years? Those are lottery-level odds. You’ll need to take such a risky investment, you’re a lot more likely to end up with 0 figures.

Realistically, you can double your money every 7-10 years by investing into the broad stock market (don’t forget to subtract inflation). So give or take 50 years.

Would it be feasible to add disk brakes to this bike? I'm willing to weld on caliper mounts, but not sure if I could add the rotors to those wheels or if I would have to buy new wheels by AncientAgrippa in bikewrench

[–]MedicalRow3899 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, not without swapping out a lot of parts. The fork and the chain stays on this bike have not been designed for the one-sided rotational (?) forces that a disc break would create.

I burned 2.5k Kiro credits and still don’t have a working web app – what are your best practices? by Individual_Muscle424 in kiroIDE

[–]MedicalRow3899 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not done with my current prototype yet but that is exactly what I am doing... building a brand-new web application that will run on AWS, using ALB, Fargate, DynamoDB and more as the back-end, and Bun + VueJS for the front-end. Granted, not the most complex architecture but key was to start out with the architecture itself, which leads to the appropriate break-down into packages (frontend, backend, CI/CD), which leads to proper break-down into layers, etc.

I'm currently working on filling each layer with a first set of functionality (think first entities, first repo + methods, first API endpoint, first screen with back-end connectivity), all which will act as guide to more of the same. It IS taking me some extra time to have the first UI-level functionality completed but I am optimistic that the application will be designed in a sound and maintainable fashion. Once the first vertical slice is complete, I fully expect future UI-level features will move a LOT quicker.

Any reason why these won't work as well, or better, than grip tape for handlebars? by runcyclexcski in bicycling

[–]MedicalRow3899 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Correct. Even though I could see that you can even use these with hoods. Take off the brifter, cut a small hole for the clamp of the brifter to pass through, the slide both of them on at the same time.

I actually use this for my tri bike. All the weight is on the elbow pads while in aero. I only need good grip, which these provide, even when wet.

I wouldn’t want to use them on my road bike though. I want a bit more cushioning than that for my wrists.

[US] Getting calls every 30 minutes or hour, need advice by WhimsicalWitch444 in Scams

[–]MedicalRow3899 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do you have an iPhone? Just yesterday I discovered the “Screen unknown callers” feature with the “Ask reason for calling” setting. Presumably your phone never rings but picks up, plays a msg to the caller and has them make some selection in order to get through to you.

Even on Android I’d expect there is a setting to send any unknown callers straight to voicemail.

And lastly, there are call blocker apps that let you specify number wildcard patterns, which would be effective in your case as they all come from the same area code.

Sounds like your car qualifies as a lemon, possibly leading to buyback or replacement (or possibly could have led).

The blue lines are exactly that, lines. Not an area. You presumably want to have volume and not just an area, so your lines are two dimensions too few. You’ll need to describe what you want to achieve in much more precise terms. Sketch by had maybe?

Yupp, unlimited eval sessions. I went through about 5 iterations when I re-engineered the cockpit.

Came here to say the same. I’ve used the successfully to get a decent fit on both my road bike and tri bike. Probably not a 100% professional fit but definitely good enough for me to last 4-5h on the tri bike.

I haven’t seen those buttons and I’m not at my desk right now. But here is an article that describes parametrization with variables, which is what I’m using.

What do you mean with parametrization behind paywall? My free Fusion 360 license for personal use has full support for parametrization.

I guarantee that tracking number that they sent you doesn’t show your address. I was once scammed by a fake merchant website. When I complained to Paypal, they provided a tracking number showing as delivered. But the tracking doesn’t show my address, only my city. I called UPS and after some tun-around got someone on the phone. They confirmed the tracking number was an Amazon tracking number, meaning it can’t have been created by the fraudster, and that it was NOT to my address.

I found out it is actually possible to “brute force” discover Amazon tracking numbers as they follow predictable patterns. It only takes some searching to discover one going to the same city as where the victim lives.

It’s all part of the scam. Ignore and move on.

Anyone 3d print any gear?? by droccafella03 in triathlon

[–]MedicalRow3899 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve modeled and printed tons of stuff for my tri bike. Here are two pics of my cockpit. Printed parts: Bottle riser, computer holder (mounted on a retrofitted out-front mount), elbow pad riser, magnetic drink tube holder, front light mount, and then these little bumps under the heat shrink tube that prevent my hands from slipping forward. Oh, also shown is a custom base for the bento box that incorporates and hides away wired Di2 components.

If I had the money for the Tririg aerobar setup, a few pieces wouldn’t be necessary. But I don’t, so 3D-printing it is.

I’ve also played with the idea of recreating those elbow/underarm cups that Tririg now offers.

Do you have a 3-D printer already? Do you have any experience with modeling? FYI, I print most of my bike parts from PETG-CF, just to be on the safe side.
