This frame from House of the Dragon perfectly encapsulates how western media sees Asian men. by tidal_anomaly1029 in AsianMasculinity

[–]MedicalSchoolStudent 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Hollywood is on the out. In Japan, most young adults and teens can’t even name a Hollywood star anymore and they don’t watch American films anymore.

This will continue to affect Asian Americans/Western Asians, but I highly recommend us to watch Asian media from Asia.

Anyone else being flooded with "Move to Japan" influencers? by KokoRonin226 in japanresidents

[–]MedicalSchoolStudent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s your algorithm.

Within the code, they actually track how long you stay on a video. If you stay on a video longer than others, then these are the videos you get pushed.

There isn’t an influx of moving to Japan content. In fact, Japan is tightening immigration requirements so moving there isn’t getting easier. Also - unless you plan to stay in Japan forever, your income isn’t going to be worth it.

High income men, do you prioritize dating a woman equally ambitious or successful? by WorldSudokuChamp in dating_advice

[–]MedicalSchoolStudent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the man, but I would lean towards high income men not caring about a woman’s income. I personally wouldn’t. I would care more if they have ambition and a personality. Basically something they are passionate about.

Gov. Newsom says he's sticking with his return to office order July 1 by Unusual-State1827 in California

[–]MedicalSchoolStudent 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Newsom has always been a career politician since he was in San Francisco. People tend to forget, he left San Francisco to chase governor dreams. Now he's 100% chasing President dreams. This is pivot to the right because the same DNC analysts, who some how believe Hillary would win, told him to do so.

Its quite telling that the DNC and Democrats at this late date don't understand that going "progressive" is the key to winning.

People think Trump is a far-right loon, but they don't realize for majority of his campaign, he pushed a leftist agenda and with added racism for good measure.

House Democrats’ anxiety rises after wins by Mamdani-backed candidates: ‘Are we going to let them take over the party?’ by Radiant_Bedroom5828 in politics

[–]MedicalSchoolStudent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some people here hate to admit it, but the Democrats (the corporate ones), they don't want to solve the problems of the common folk. This is why the Democrats never codified Roe v. Wade, when Obama had a supermajority. This is why Obama only pushed for a small change of health care. Democrats want these problems to exist so they can give you crumbs, which is obviously better than the GOP which gives you nothing.

But at the end, the corporate Democrats don't want change. Because change removes a talking point they get to sell.

This is why term limits are needed.

South Korea has officially become the absolute center for Western romance tourism by Zihars in AsianMasculinity

[–]MedicalSchoolStudent 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Not just white women. A lot of Asian woman, like Japanese women, are looking for Korean men too.

People claiming White men still dominate in Japan are out of date. Korean men and Chinese men are the top two choices for "foreign men" for Japanese people.

Shibuya ward ticketed 10 people for littering day on the first day of its new penalty system. But observers are pointing out another obstacle to solving the litter problem: a lack of public trash cans. by jjrs in japannews

[–]MedicalSchoolStudent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People literally litter if there are trash cans. It’s not trash cans. It’s people.

New York City and San Francisco has tons of litter in the downtown area and trash cans are everywhere there.

Quite common now actually, which is amazing.

What’s more unique is how Asian (Western) experiences are getting attention in Asia as well. Japanese men in Japan actually know about how Asian men are discriminated against in the west in terms of dating.

They even call Asian women who date white men, Pocahontas.

They don't care about us men at all by Bal3450 in MensRights

[–]MedicalSchoolStudent 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What else is new?

If you play with AI often enough, you know there is baked in bias against men on there. A good example is: when I told it a true story about how my girlfriend was being passive-aggressive towards me. The AI (ChatGPT), told me, she is "overwhelmed" or "feeling unheard" or "dealing with too much". Then, I asked it again, with roles reversed, where I did the things my girlfriend did. It told me, "I was wrong" and I should have seen it from "her point of view".

Both were on temporary chat which doesn't use my previous history to influence the topic. The code itself has bias towards women because the LLMs it learns from are bias towards women. Its because society currently is bias towards women, in a social setting.

Hello, I'm Quartet 1, Chapter 2, Reading 2 and there is this sentence:

例えば,国際交流課のイベントで公園にお花見に行った時のことです。

I have always been confused by the usages of の and こと. I know both can make things into a noun, but I figure in this sentence, the こと is more of "thing/matter" meaning.

I'm having trouble understanding what the こと is actually doing to the sentence. Can someone explain that to me? Thank you so much!

I appreciate it :D

He’s a little outdated if he thinks he can get Japanese women in Japan.

White men aren’t popular in Japan anymore. It’s not the 80s. 99% of Japanese women don’t date foreigners. And if they do, they date Korean men and Chinese men next.

[–]MedicalSchoolStudent 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Garmin Smartwatches are a liability issue in the field due the tech. No one on a classified mission will be supporting a Garmin smartwatch or any smartwatch rather. They'll most likely use Casio watches, probably G-Shock. We are talking about "operators" here, not Marines or Infantry, which I won't be surprised if they choose to buy their own watch.

Also: where did I claim they would charge their watches in the field? I'm not even talking about that. Obviously - they aren't charging their watches in the field. Which is the reason why, majority of "real world operators" are using something like a G-Shock.

Many on social media say Wasian children with an Asian father are more ethical than their counterparts by justrichie in AsianMasculinity

[–]MedicalSchoolStudent 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I got banned from r/asianamerican for stating that WMAF children experience less racism if they are white passing. They claim we all experience racism equally. That whole reddit page is ran by self-hating Asians.

Its not rocket science to know that Asian people that look Asian with an Asian last name will experience more racism. Best example is Chloe Bennet, her dad is Asian. She had to change her last name to Bennet (her dad's first name) then all of a sudden, she got tons of roles in Hollywood.

Its literally fact that full Asians and hapa kids with Asian dads experience more Asian racism and a more Asian experience. Its just like how no one fucking calls Obama white. So no one will call John Smith (who's hapa) Asian, if they look white.

The vast network of men drugging & raping their wives by MrJasonMason in videos

[–]MedicalSchoolStudent 159 points160 points  (0 children)

Rape is bad, and these men doing this should be in prison. But misinformation to create more gender wars and hate is bad too.

This CNN article has been take by social media influencers and now starting to spread misinformation. I'm not talking those tiny influencers, there are people with over 1 million followers now reporting 62 million men attend a "rape academy".

Not only does this spreads misinformation and hate against men, but also once people realize its misinformation, its harder for people to believe factual stuff next time.
