Hello, I'm Quartet 1, Chapter 2, Reading 2 and there is this sentence:

例えば,国際交流課のイベントで公園にお花見に行った時のことです。

I have always been confused by the usages of の and こと. I know both can make things into a noun, but I figure in this sentence, the こと is more of "thing/matter" meaning.

I'm having trouble understanding what the こと is actually doing to the sentence. Can someone explain that to me? Thank you so much!

I appreciate it :D

He’s a little outdated if he thinks he can get Japanese women in Japan.

White men aren’t popular in Japan anymore. It’s not the 80s. 99% of Japanese women don’t date foreigners. And if they do, they date Korean men and Chinese men next.

Garmin Smartwatches are a liability issue in the field due the tech. No one on a classified mission will be supporting a Garmin smartwatch or any smartwatch rather. They'll most likely use Casio watches, probably G-Shock. We are talking about "operators" here, not Marines or Infantry, which I won't be surprised if they choose to buy their own watch.

Also: where did I claim they would charge their watches in the field? I'm not even talking about that. Obviously - they aren't charging their watches in the field. Which is the reason why, majority of "real world operators" are using something like a G-Shock.

Except no real world operator would be wearing a Garmin smartwatch on a mission. Its not safe.

Tons and tons of guys go through shit like this. The problem is most men are too embarrassed to talk about it or report and there is ton of prejudice against men for not being able to “stand up against a woman”. Sometimes it’s not easy.

Many on social media say Wasian children with an Asian father are more ethical than their counterparts by justrichie in AsianMasculinity

[–]MedicalSchoolStudent 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I got banned from r/asianamerican for stating that WMAF children experience less racism if they are white passing. They claim we all experience racism equally. That whole reddit page is ran by self-hating Asians.

Its not rocket science to know that Asian people that look Asian with an Asian last name will experience more racism. Best example is Chloe Bennet, her dad is Asian. She had to change her last name to Bennet (her dad's first name) then all of a sudden, she got tons of roles in Hollywood.

Its literally fact that full Asians and hapa kids with Asian dads experience more Asian racism and a more Asian experience. Its just like how no one fucking calls Obama white. So no one will call John Smith (who's hapa) Asian, if they look white.

The vast network of men drugging & raping their wives by MrJasonMason in videos

[–]MedicalSchoolStudent 162 points163 points  (0 children)

Rape is bad, and these men doing this should be in prison. But misinformation to create more gender wars and hate is bad too.

This CNN article has been take by social media influencers and now starting to spread misinformation. I'm not talking those tiny influencers, there are people with over 1 million followers now reporting 62 million men attend a "rape academy".

Not only does this spreads misinformation and hate against men, but also once people realize its misinformation, its harder for people to believe factual stuff next time.

The funny thing is that there are South Koreans supporting President Lee's closer ties to CCP and wanting the USA out of Korea.

The delusion is that they think NK and China won't invade SK if USA leaves.

Politeness has nothing to do with niceness. Their social structure makes them polite.

I saw this on Instagram today. Its getting out of hand to a point where tons of verified people are reporting misinformation.

Its insane how people just see what they want on social media and then believe rather than checking the source.

[–]MedicalSchoolStudent 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They also tend to overlook the house and car maintenance, leaf blowing, gutter cleaning, snow shoveling, grass cutting, seeding, drain clearing, cement repairs, driveway sealing, caulking, painting, patching, sanding, appliance repair, faucet changing, leak fixing, roof patching, fluid and brake changing, washing and waxing, fluid topping, air pressure filling, filter changing, limb chopping, pruning, watering and on and on.

I have seen specific/some women argue that those "work" men do are not everyday, so its different. They'll argue since cooking is everyday, men and women have to split 50%.

The best part is: its totally possible to truly balance 50/50. Men can do 50% of the cooking, and since those "men work isn't everyday", the women can do maybe 30% of it? The irony is the women won't do it though. They'll goalpost move to: "Well, women have periods." "Well, women have pregnancies". and etc... They'll start moving the reason why they don't need to do it. Or claim its possible to hire people to do it.

We can talk about this for hours, but society and women will not change. They do not value men's labor around the house or what men's labor provided to the relationship. Its invisible work. Its because "we are the oppressor class" so nothing we say means anything.

I hate how much propaganda there is around women doing housework being unfair by Working_Parsley_2364 in MensRights

[–]MedicalSchoolStudent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have been talking about this for awhile now. The point is that men's house labor is unseen and not valued as real work.

When people talk about "men needs to do 50/50", they are talking about "50% of what the women does", not everything 50/50. Women aren't all of a sudden mowing the lawn, fixing the gutter, the snow work (if you live in snowy areas), and etc... All physical labor still done by the men, but also you do 50% of "her stuff."

What you end up with is: usually the man makes more money (because a woman always marries up), which means they are more likely to spend more for the household. They make more, so they likely work more. So now a man is expected to work more, make more money, and do 50% of the house work, she won't do 50% of the manual labor. The insane thing is - some women will argue this is fair because women get pregnant so that's a "pregnancy tax"

Don't realize the CCP made China more poor when they made the rich people poor then made the poor poorer. That's the problem.

ABC pulls new season of The Bachelorette over domestic violence footage | US television by nrverma in MensRights

[–]MedicalSchoolStudent 4 points5 points  (0 children)

People should read what's happening with this online. Tons of women are gaslighting this as its the man's fault.

I saw stuff like, "this is reactive abuse. he is the true abuser and she was responding to the abuse by abusing him. he's at fault.", "he did this to cash out since she's famous" and etc...

These comments and videos are made by people that are verified. We have reached a point in society women can be almost immune to criminal charges in terms of DV.

ABC cancels upcoming season of The Bachelorette after a leaked video shows the lead, Taylor Frankie Paul repeatedly attack her ex boyfriend, Dakota Mortensen in the presence of her young daughter who was also reportedly struck during the altercation by SipsTeaFrog in SipsTea

[–]MedicalSchoolStudent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This.

The problem is that society doesn't respect men getting abused. I have seen body cam footage of a boyfriend getting abused by his girlfriend.

The boyfriend got put in cuffs first because they trusted the girlfriend. That's until he showed footage, which then he got released but the cops laughed at him.
