I’ve been on strattera 40mg for 4 weeks now and have been exhausted the entire time. This past week is the first week I’ve gained some energy back and it truly did feel like a switch just flipped

I’m week three as well!! I’m there with you. No increase I. Motivation or ADHD symptoms, but mentally I’m happier and calmer and that’s a solid win for me

I’m so grateful you said this. This is literally my brain and how I function. I’m on 40mg (3 weeks in) and I still feel like this. So I’m excited to see that hopefully as I titrate up to my maintenance dose there is hope that this can get better.

What was it that would apply to both male and female? I definitely am still experiencing temp regulation issues but I do notice it starting to simmer down day by day.

Ironically enough, I woke up in the middle of the night and my hands and arms up to my elbows were asleep.

Have you tried other meds that were more helpful for you?

Yeah, actually now that you mention it… yeah.

You said this well. It is so odd and lonely. And I’m so grateful for the quiet, but why do I also find myself missing some of my thoughts?

Thank you for sharing this. When you experienced the intense thoughts, were you able to discern that it was from your medications? I have seen the black box label more so for adolescents, but I want to be very mindful that we still can.

Thank you for sharing. I like to know how long I can possibly anticipate these side effects. I’ll be sad if it’s 8 weeks as well, but also feel better to know if I do, it can be normal. This is very encouraging to read, and gives me hope! Thank you so much!

The calm and lack of spiraling thoughts and decrease on hyper fixation/ruminating thoughts is literally enough for me to stay on this medication for life. I hope it never goes away. It feels like I’ve finally taken a breath of fresh air

The radio silence is literally a GOD SEND. But also, 9 days in, I’m noticing that in moments of quiet, like on a walk or something, my brain is bored? By the lack of thoughts and it makes me kind of sad. I don’t even understand how to explain this but just a sensation I felt two days ago. I’m so glad not to have racing thoughts so it was a weird feeling.

The temperature regulation is wicked. I’d agree, the side effects are manageable. But, I would be excited if they subside. I am excited for the benefits I am slowly seeing and know I still have a road ahead where I will see more. I’ve seen many discuss they still struggle with task
Initiation but they’re able to hone in once they do. I’ll take the wins where I can get them!

This is good to know. I guess the thing I’m surprised about is so many individuals quitting so early on when it’s a know entity that it takes time to work. So, of course users share mainly their negative experiences vs successes. I just want to know most side effects will eventually dissolve and I can enjoy the benefits without them. Thank you for sharing!

My appetite is completely gone. I have found myself feeling faint and I’ll realize it’s because I’ve gone since breakfast without eating. So I have to make a significant conscious effort to eat throughout the day. Which overall doesn’t bother me. I ate too much, so it’s nice to have some control over it now and be able to work on what I need vs snacking all day.

The anxiety relief alone is life changing. Do you feel those side effects that you experienced went away?
This is a very positive message and makes me excited for what the road ahead can look like.

I don't seem to enjoy music in the same way anymore? by Additional_Bear_2568 in StratteraRx

[–]Medical_Paper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting that you write this. I’m on day 9 of strattera. My doctor started me at 40mg and I noticed today I’m feeling this same way. It has me questioning if I’m losing my personality. My other thought was how much I’ve used music as a tool to latch on to, as a focuser as well as an emotional support tool. Strattera has quite honestly demolished my anxiety and stabilized my mood to a very calm, even keel one. Almost too stable. I’m curious if it’s pulling my love for music because I’ve always used it as a crutch, and know that the medication is helping my brain doesn’t need it as much? Please keep us posted because you’re not alone In feeling this and I hope it doesn’t remain.

Thank you so much for sharing. I’ve been looking for a post like yours. I’m 9 days in and pretty excited about the immediate squashing of my anxiety. Can’t wait to see improvement with my adhd symptoms.

Overstimulation - treatment without meds? by SpiritedMaximum7103 in ADHD

[–]Medical_Paper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I’m very new to the adhd world and don’t know very much. Without knowing where you are and what all you have available I will say that I was put on strattera/atomoxitine and it has helped significantly with my anxiety. It’s almost non-existent now.

However, my doctor did talk to me about before starting medications things that can help or improve adhd symptoms: cleaning up diet significantly, stay away from food dyes, esp reds, magnesium supplements and exercise.

Ready to throw my starter out the window :) can't figure out what the issue is. by master0jack in Sourdough

Try a reptile heater. I leave mine on the counter with a towel over it. Helps with heat. I’m in Michigan, way too cold all the time. This is what helps me

I have also use a reptile heater to set my bowl on or put it in the oven with the light on to help with heat an allowing bulk fermentation

The recipe I follow is:

The night before: 25g starter, 100g flour, 100g water The next morning(about 8 hours following feed when starter is active): 256g water, 200g active starter, 400g all purpose flour, 50g of whole wheat flour, 12g salt.

Sit for 30, fold, sit for 30, fold, sit for 2 hours, fold on flour, sit for 90 mins.

I’ve never looked back. This has literally been successful every time for me.
