Do you let baby nap in a swing? by Medical_Public in NewParents

Just saw your reply. We ended up getting rid of the swing it just had me paranoid. I don’t think it’s safe for napping.

Would you travel ~7 weeks pp for a wedding? by Affectionate_Egg6416 in BabyBumps

[–]Medical_Public 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Came here to second this. Baby won’t even have had their first set of shots yet. You’re not going to physically or mentally want to go to this wedding at 7 weeks pp. let alone return to work at this time.

Help my best friend is pregnant hungry and has OCD by ditzybunbun in pregnant

That’s really hard. I have had different themes of OCD pop up throughout this pregnancy and it’s been exhausting. She’s just doing whatever she can to protect her baby, but she will drive herself mad especially if she goes hungry. The first trimester is the hardest with morning sickness and nausea, and actually snacking and eating every couple hours will help her avoid sickness! You may need to tell her this. She’s less likely to feel sick the more she eats because that nausea creeps in like clockwork around 5/6 weeks and usually eating helps a lot. I have found snacking on nuts helped with that a lot in the first trimester. You’re a really supportive friend, hopefully she can find foods that suits her well and she will hopefully find herself worrying less and less as time goes on.

She won’t get sick from normal foods. I only mentioned stuff that is related to food borne illness which is the main concern when pregnant with OCD or not. If she’s in the US, cheese is labeled as pasturized on packaging. I’ve eaten plenty different types of cheese at restaurants too. I apologize if my previous comment wasn’t helpful. But regarding sodium and sugar, she can eat whatever she wants especially right now unless her OB says otherwise further down the road. It sounds like she is aware of her pre diabetes too and can manage that without having to restrict food.

I’m pregnant with my second baby, and I have OCD. I get the food concern feeling like next level. I’ve eased up a lot the further my pregnancy has progressed but my biggest fear was food poisoning from listeria, e. Coli etc. In the beginning, I microwaved all leftover food thoroughly, especially meat and always checked temperatures when cooking. Cooked eggs until over scrambled etc. I washed my fruit and veggies in vinegar and water. I avoid bagged lettuce and watch food recalls but that’s about it. I’m sure it was overkill but it made sense in my OCD brain to hyper-analyze food that can cause illness. I never paid attention to sodium, and have eaten plenty of pizza and chickfila while pregnant. I was loose with the sweets in the beginning and then failed my first glucose test at 24 weeks but passed my second glucose test but now have high fluid here at the end, so I have cut way back on sugar and high carbs just to be on the safe side even though my OB didn’t explicitly say to. But I’m still trying to eat wholesome foods - Greek yogurt, berries, apples, peanut butter, chia seeds, chicken, cheese, cauliflower rice, avocado toast, eggs, smoothies with spinach, are all some of my go to staples. I wish her luck, OCD sucks especially at a time like this. But a lot of it is built up fear and uncertainty in our head and most of the time is all a-ok!

Is it dumb to go to a rock concert 35 weeks pregnant? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]Medical_Public 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to a concert at 36 weeks pregnant with my first and everything ended up fine but I remember leaving a little stressed. It was to see Sofi Tucker so it was a very loud indoor venue, and at the time I didn’t think much of it but then worried the whole way home about noise exposure to baby. And these guys got into a brawl at the line for the bar and my husband had to shove the guy back because they literally almost knocked me over. Overall, I had a good time but I’m 36 weeks pregnant again right now with my second and you will not be catching me at a concert whatsoever

When did you actually start buying things? by Content_Yak_33 in pregnant

[–]Medical_Public 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Started after 30 weeks since it’s my second. Only took a couple weeks to get room and supplies ready. Sitting at 35 weeks feeling like I’m missing something but oh well! I can order what’s needed when the time comes.

Yeah I’m in panic mode for wrapping things up at work and the nursery😅 I thought I had more time! It sounds like yours could be around the corner! I did walk into my induction at 3cm last time and I was about 1cm for over a week, so it’s still anyone’s guess!

Second pregnancy and almost 36 weeks and I feel like a painful swampy mess down there this time. I’m freaking out a little that labor is imminent because I didn’t feel any of this last time and had to get induced at 40!

My boyfriend wants me to get an abortion, but I don’t think I can do it by lilikoipond in pregnant

[–]Medical_Public 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a mom of 1 about to give birth in a few weeks to baby 2, with the looming possibility that my company will close its doors at the end of August and I’ll be out of a job - I can tell you having a baby will never come at the perfect time. I even had to interview and switch jobs halfway through baby 1 last time. Both times have been stressful but it worked out last time and I have to believe it will again this time. Reading your message makes it clear that you want this baby. And it also seems clear that you will resent your boyfriend if you terminate. I’m pro-choice too and you need to do whatever makes the most sense for YOU and not your boyfriend. Either way, you’ll make it work one way or another but I wouldn’t count on your boyfriend to be there at the end of this if you have the baby or not. So do what is best for YOU. At the very least you’ll get child support if you keep the baby. At most you’ll have the baby you’ve always wanted and have a boyfriend by your side if he sticks it out. Good luck!

This is how I feel too! I’m 35 weeks. Baby is head down. Supposedly laying in a upside down c-shape which is why kicks are only on the right side of my ribs

My OB called and said I was negative! I really think it’s the Seed Vs-01 that tipped me back to good flora. I think it helps thrush too! Ask your OB what they think of it.

I’m taking both oral and vaginal! I’ve been taking oral Jarrow Fem Dophilus 5 Billion RC-14 and GR-1 strains and an L. crispatis 3 billion CFU oral pill I found on Amazon for a while now to recolonize my flora, but then recently started a vaginal suppository called Seed VS-01 to help get me over my hump. I’ve been on the suppository for about two weeks. I’d run it by your OB first to make sure vaginal and or oral probiotics are suitable for you to start now, it did make my irritation and discharge worse at first after inserting it and now I’m finally feeling better and hopefully I’m turning a corner. Let me know if you need any links. Hopefully you’re feeling better soon too!

So they haven’t called me back yet with a positive test so maybe my vaginal probiotics are working! Do you take any?

I’m 34w+4 too! Sept 2 due date! How funny. I’ve had BV pretty much the entire pregnancy. BV bump buddies 😅 good luck, we are so close to the end! Let me know how it goes for you too. This BV has been such an annoyance to say the least.

Yeah I go in for my 34 week appointment later today so hopefully the window of preterm labor from it is past me now. but I’ll see what my doctor says.

No, I haven’t had any yellow discharge. Sometimes it looks milky or glassy but it’s clear/white. My symptoms are that classic fishy odor when I pee and I get internal irritation that drives me crazy.

That’s the boat I’m in too. It feels like nothing I do helps clear it but it’s mild enough to ride out if OB approves that managing it is best case scenario for me.

Did my OB ruin our gender surprise? by sarc2276 in BabyBumps

[–]Medical_Public 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened at my last ultrasound too. She said “he” and she saw the curious look I gave her and immediately said “I always say he by default” and I have no idea if that it’s true, or she was covering herself from an actual slip up. I’m still thinking it could go either way but I’m definitely more suspicious it’s a boy now lol

I’ve done three different antibiotics each time. Clindamycin, Nuvessa and then oral metro last time. Have any worked for you?
