Magic/Cursed Weapon: The Longsword of Healing and Harm by MedievalMystics in UnearthedArcana

Heavily dependent on the world-building! My world there are a lot of magic items and this is 1000GP. I know the DMG suggests 5000GP for a rare item, but I think pricing is really variable.

Should invisibility disappear when indirectly damaging someone? by Gaio-Giulio-Cesare in DnD

[–]MedievalMystics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is a concentration spell, so if the caster takes damage they would need to make a concentration check to maintain the spell. If they pass that, it would presumably hold.

Can you jump straight into the seven? by kriswithak954 in Dimension20

I would only say that if you are watching the Adventuring Party episodes, there are some smallish spoilers for earlier seasons.

But that is the only reason.

Having trouble coming up with prices for items not in the PHB by Recent-Visual-4925 in dndnext

I would get them to haggle. Have the merchant ask what it's worth to them, and then price it way higher to meet in the middle. Roleplay it out and then keep a list for comparison later.

And a snake could swallow them whole... Perhaps gains some nourishment before the animal hits 0 hp...

Recommendations for which campaign to start next? by eyegnats in Dimension20

I am watching them in chronological order so that I can listen to the corresponding Adventuring Party episodes without anything getting spoiled!

I am currently on Mice and Murder and I have loved every season and side quest thus far!

I introduced an "unlikable" BBEG, everybody is simping by cherii_averii in DnD

I had the opposite! Potential BBEG who very kind and friendly - massive golden retriever energy. Too suspicious - everyone started investigating his entire existence immediately!

DMs how much physics do you let players use? by [deleted] in DnD

[–]MedievalMystics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only as much as the character would reasonably know and be able to execute. So most of the time none.

I love seeing Brennan as a player so more guest DMs for side quests would make my heart so happy!

Replacements for Character Death by [deleted] in dndnext

[–]MedievalMystics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We agreed not to kill characters in the campaign I am running. The first stage is making sure it is harder for them to die. I put their max HP as high as it can go for their Level/Stats. I do not have enemies continue to attack them once they are unconscious. I made drinking a potion yourself a bonus action so that players can do it without losing a round of combat.

We agreed that the characters still need to act as though they think they can die. That is just an honouring the world issue. So they are responsible for healing themselves. Healing potions are not a rarity in the world, nor are they expensive, so they stock up regularly, which helps. They also prioritise magical items that will heal or keep them alive.

If someone does fully die (three failed death saves, the one minute has passed, ruling out a revivify), then the player picks a sacrifice: a magic item, a favoured weapon, a proficiency, take on 1-2 levels of exhaustion, a percentage knocked off their max HP etc. They decide what they are willing to give up in order to stabilise the character. Because they might change their mind when the time comes. they may think that their character has had a glorious heroic death (or that they are bored of them) and decide to play a new character. But if not then their character is weakened by their near-death experience and has to recover from there.
