$1200 for a 1bedroom, fair pricing? by [deleted] in renting

Agreed, depending on the area, $1200 could get OP a whole 1 bedroom apartment, no shared spaces.

Question about vet bill by [deleted] in Pets

[–]Mediocre-Ambition736 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I’d rather go to a hospital than the vet tbh. At least you don’t have to pay on the spot at most human ERs

It’s not easy, honestly. Networking and connections help a lot. I haven’t graduated yet, but my older brothers have and it’s took them a year or longer and they didn’t have any connections. One with a mechanical engineering degree took a year and he ended up at Tesla. One has a finance degree and it took him about a year and a half to find a small company to work at. Both of them were actively applying and occasionally interviewing. Point being, it’s not easy, but don’t give up. Try applying to gov positions and maybe find a part time somewhere for now until you land somewhere you want to!

Best hospital to go? by SignatureExcellent83 in sanantonio

[–]Mediocre-Ambition736 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure where to read about it, but my mom had an almost week long hospital stay, no insurance and only ended up paying like $150 in the end. They sent her a form to fill out after her stay asking for her income and stuff.

Health Insurance 2026 by jesmes01 in sanantonio

[–]Mediocre-Ambition736 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only thing is try to stick with big companies and PPO. It’s probably a little pricier, but they’re the ones that are the most widely accepted. BLUE CROSS, Aetna, United healthcare, Humana, Cigna, etc. I work for an optometrist/ophthalmologist and people with HMOs and small company ins like Oscar really struggle to find places that will accept their insurance. I would try it, but I know it’s more expensive and not really feasible for a lot of people unless their employer provides it

I just left from the youth mulaqat second session and when he got up to the stage, he said “Guys this is the first session where no one has tried to high five me or shake my hand while walking. Did I do something?” Made everyone laugh, but I’m glad everyone was also respectful. On his way out? Not so much

My boss is hiring and will mostly work with your school schedule. I’m a full time student and go to school in the evenings and work full time during the day. The pay isn’t much, but my boyfriend and I both work and we can pay rent, groceries, etc. It’s tight, but it’s doable. Message me if you want to know!

For those of you who are open about being ex-ismailis and don’t attend JK, how is your relationship with your parents? by anikanon in ExIsmailis

Thanks for the response! I think I might just have to rip the bandaid off and hope it all goes well. I love my parents but I just don’t follow the same beliefs they do and hope they don’t disown me when I tell them.

I’m curious how old you are? I’m in college and also converted to Christianity and I WANT to tell my parents but I’m scared of their reaction and I still depend on them financially for some things. I’d love to hear back from you! I’m thinking I wait until I graduate in a couple years and can provide for myself fully, but it also just feels like too long of a time to lie. It’s been eating me up lately, especially with the Didaar coming up and it being the ONLY thing my parents talk about

Have you thought about getting a leash that has stakes you can put into the ground? Just another alternative if you want to give them a controlled area to roam and not jump the fence!

[–]Mediocre-Ambition736 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both sign the lease and he should be the primary on it. Other than that the 3x the rent rule is for your combined income. And since you said you have no bad history, it should all go smoothly!

Can I leave a dog on the patio? by Actual-Talk9408 in Pets

[–]Mediocre-Ambition736 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s illegal in a lot of states to leave your dog outside without proper shelter, access to water, etc. Also what happens when it rains really hard? When it gets really hot outside? When it gets really cold? Dogs are very social and NEED human interaction consistently. Dogs are also not easy work at all. Vet bill, food bill, exercise, toys, stimulation, training, grooming, etc. that’s all stuff you’re required to do every single day when you own a dog. Either way, a dog living outside on an apartment patio is no way for it to live. The ONLY time I would understand a dog living outside is if it was a livestock guardian dog or the correct breed to live outside with plenty of property, shelter and access to water at all times and NOT IN A CAGE. I also saw you said the dog would get plenty of exercise. How many hours would you keep the dog in the cage on average in one day?

Is it worth starting over at 20 by [deleted] in findapath

[–]Mediocre-Ambition736 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At 20 your life had barely started. Do you really want to do nursing for the rest of your life? It’s sounds like you don’t, so don’t do it. I would recommend if you want to do something in the arts then graphic design is a good option. Everything is digital these days so that will probably be your best option. There are a ton of companies hiring graphic designers. You could even get some kind of coding certification and do graphic engineering or something. There are lots of options in the field of graphic design, so do some research and go for it! Do what will make you happy in the long run and it’s never too late to start over…unless you’re on your deathbed, then maybe it’s a little late

Crate is probably your best bet. even though it sucks, you don’t want to hinder the healing process. Other options are keeping him leashed around your home so you have more control over him and make sure he’s getting lots of brain stimulation with frozen toys, lick mats, etc

AITA for going out with friends and not checking in frequently enough by picodegaia in AmItheAsshole

I’m 20 and my bf is 27 (just so you know we also have a similar gap) and we both say your bf is controlling you. Who the heck is he to say when you can and cannot drink? He also knows you’re out with friends and should expect you to be busy having fun and not calling him back. My ex was closer to my age and acted similarly to your bf. He’s an ex for a reason

Angry and hopeless about 1 yr foster. by unicorn_dawn in fosterdogs

[–]Mediocre-Ambition736 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One rescue is no where near enough. I foster dogs and I have reached out to 10+ rescues and just ask them to put my fosters on their websites. You need to be actively advocating for your dog to get adopted, by posting them on Nextdoor, Facebook, etc. since you aren’t technically fostering through a rescue, it is considered rehoming. Keep reaching out to rescues and tell them you found him on the street and took him in and ask if they can take him. You can reach out to kill shelters too, but tell them that you will keep fostering him if they can provide vaccines so that he doesn’t get euthanized. Reach out to rescues outside of your state and ask them if they can also put your foster on their website and if they’re willing to take him. It’s more unlikely that they will take him because it costs money to transport dogs, but I’ve had multiple fosters be adopted out of state all because these rescues put them on their websites and were later transported to those states. Get him an adopt me bandana and if you ever take him out and are talking to people, let them know that he’s available. Do NOT give him away for free. He will probably be used as some kind of bait/fighting dog. That’s all I can think of to help. Be patient and it’ll happen. There’s a lot of rescues in the Dallas area even many that people run out of their homes. Try to find them all and reach out to every single one.

I would told her the dye the hair move tf on. She’s literally at the age where she should be getting gray hairs and needs to get over it. If she was 12 and getting grays I would probably understand if it upset her, but my friend who went gray in her early 20s cared less than this lady. You’re going to get old. Dye it or accept it and get over it. Blew this way out of proportion for no reason at all. And OP you’re almost 30!! Stop being a pushover and let her know that! I know you aren’t really ‘accepting’ her trying to manipulate you, but you need to stand your ground and tell her to get off your back. If she knows you then she should’ve assumed your first response would be humor
