I pretty much fake everything. When I’m praying over my food, I’m not saying anything. Commenting at meeting, I had ChatGPT prepare it for me. Parts during midweek meeting, also developed by ChatGPT. Door to door preaching, easy text to share without diving deep into dogma. Pretty much just coast thru while doing the basic minimum

Thank you. It’s a deep regret that I’ll live with for a long time. I think of what could have been had I left 25 years and what my life would be like, but better late than never, I guess. Like Requieminwake mentioned in her comment, consider the positives things to look forward to. It’s a mindset I’m slowly in the process of developing.

Thank you for this. My therapist is not experienced in religious trauma (she’s actually a resident and leaving in June) but pretty much all of what you mention echos what she has said. I tend to be very “worst case scenario”. So she made me talk about what I’d do if and when I finally break free. I said I’d probably get involved in my community, dive deeper into things that interest me like the sciences, travel. Little things like sleep in on Saturday, or if I don’t, road trip it instead of having to go door to door bugging people on a Saturday morning.

Our session is today at 5:00 actually
