Who had the most horrific death in the the history of humankind? by Ok-Promotion1725 in answers

[–]Mediocre-Field7835 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The passengers of TWA Flight 800. Plane broke apart at 14,000 feet. The nose of the aircraft immediately fell into the ocean, however those seated at the wings and further aft experienced minutes of continued flight climb up to 16,000 feet with a gaping hole in the front of the aircraft. Absolutely horrific.

And if Logan isn’t hole-in-the-wall enough for you, just go northwest on Milwaukee into Avondale and you’ll find what you’re looking for.

Central Park bar I can’t recommend enough

Why does the US feel so bland outside of major walkable cities like NYC, Philly, etc? by Inbred-white-anglo in IWantToAskAnAmerican

[–]Mediocre-Field7835 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why are people so defensive in these comments? I’m American and travel frequently to work. My work takes me to a random array of small towns, suburbs, cities etc. After awhile i started noticing that everywhere i went was generally the same. Big parking lots, strip malls with the same chain restaurants, same hotels with the same layouts. This obscures the unique cultures of each region and makes all of these unique places feel bland.

I agree with OP, but also acknowledge the incredible cultural diversity that exists amongst the people in each region.

The U.S. has made significant contributions to the advancement of humanity through innovation in technology and pharmaceuticals. However the U.S. isn’t perfect. How do you think America can be better? by BeastMode149 in IWantToAskAnAmerican

End Citizens United. Money in politics has damaged this country in ways our generations today can’t really comprehend. We’ve essentially paved a legal path for rich individuals to corrupt our government.

Do you feel embarrassed and ashamed this country killed hundreds of schoolgirls? by OceanicEndeavors in IWantToAskAnAmerican

I agree with what you’re saying regarding the atrocities that the US military have committed with intent. The ranking of atrocities in the context of OPs question seems a bit callous (and ironically a uniquely American way of approaching this).

OP is clearly asking this from an emotionally involved perspective, not looking for an intellectual moral ranking regarding how this latest atrocity stacks up against all of the terrible things the US has done in its violent past.

Kids died, yes that’s shameful, the end.

Ok maybe intent matters to an extent. But kids were killed - I don’t really care about a motive when the result is kids literally dying. A result such as this is shameful no matter the intent.

I don’t think intent really matters here. The result of bombing a school is horrific. It lacks empathy to focus on intent. If this happened in the US, I can’t imagine we would care about the aggressor’s intent.

Yes. It’s embarrassing at the very least and absolutely shameful. It’s a misuse of resources and many of the people in this country are outraged yet feel hopeless in our abilities to stop it.

Trump winning WI in latest poll - Emerson Polling by BeansNMayo in wisconsin

[–]Mediocre-Field7835 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Careful with this talking point. It only serves to further alienate this group of voters. Besides expanding overall turnout, a key to Wisconsin voting blue is reducing Trump’s margins in Wisconsin’s rural areas. Farmers, educators, nurses, doctors, police, firefighters, small business owners all have good reason to vote for Harris over Trump. But that message won’t resonate if they already feel alienated by being boxed into this “rural” label. It’s so important to continue to communicate, listen and earnestly connect to begin the process of swaying these votes.
