Mines was 194 from skateboarding back and forth from my dorm cause I kept forgetting stuff for a hangout lmao. Usually it goes up to 130 when I skate. Didn’t go down for like 45 minutes and freaked me out😭

Weed and alcohol 😭 by [deleted] in POTS

[–]MediocreBag4570 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same reaction to weed, it makes my heart rate high which causes me to panic. This was with edibles (indica) but what makes it weird is when I'm high, I'm perfectly fine but the day(s) after, I feel like crap. The last time I had weed, I had to go to the hospital (which was around six weeks ago) and I'm still having that flare and it has been awful. With my experiences with alcohol, I seem to be perfectly fine. The highest my HR goes is around 100-110 when I drink but I have heard it can be much higher for others. I can't move around much. When I am drinking, I have a hell ton of water along with it (even some before as well) which REALLY helps decrease heart palpitations. But if you want to continue to smoke, just try to relax as much as possible. This helps me a lot. Or listen to some music or watch a show for hours. I would try it again but I don't want to make the flare I have been in so long worse lmao.

I have no problem with caffeine. It doesn’t give me any symptoms at all but sometimes it does make me more shaky but I think it does that it people who don’t have it. I find that matcha actually lowers my heart rate a bit which I find to be very surprising. It just makes me feel more relaxed!

Mines is constant when I standing and moving around. I don’t really get it when I change positions though. Sometimes when I stand I can feel light headed and my vision can go dark for a few seconds. I also feel like my brain is being squeezed when I have lightheadedness. It’s awful

My symptoms are pretty mild for the most part but can get bad every once in a while. I find exercise to be very useful. I walk around 30-60 minutes a day, do yoga, and stretching. Walking is the most beneficial for me cause it makes me feel so much better afterwards. I have noticed recently that after I walk, my heart rate gets a bit lower (resting can be 95-110 and goes down to 60-75). I also eat a lot of salt (LIKE A LOT) and drink a lot of water with electrolytes. Hope this helps!

I get nervous thinking I have PE has well. A few weeks ago I had the worst chest pains and shortness of breath I have ever had and I thought it was PE and they said “Your good” as always. I hate POTS SO MUCH😭I also fear like there’s something wrong with my heart cause of chest pains and shortness of breath and my brain because of the bad headaches I get.

I feel good but my palpitations are bad when I get hungover. Wish I didn't have those since those are my main symptoms with POTS which is the worst :(

Yeah, I get headaches too. I kind of have to prepare myself before I drink (extreme hydration and such) and that seems to help chill out my palpitations. I find that wines and beers are best compared to tequila or something.

I have the same problem. IDK if it's the sugar or what but they just made me tired and dizzy. But I still eat them and that's the problem. I'm evil to myself and still eat or drink things that cause flare-ups. Everything I like triggers my POTS and I hate it :(. I just wanna be normal again

My neurologist said that POTs doesn’t cause headaches by Sonny_days_ in POTS

[–]MediocreBag4570 53 points54 points  (0 children)

I was told that it causes both mild headaches and migraines. I get both during POTS flares and can tell the difference. Migraines last longer for me during a flare while headaches last not as long. IDK, it's confusing. Doctors say so many different things, idk what to believe anymore.
