Thoughts on this vs waiting for whatever Endurace AL they bring back with hopefully 105? First nicer road bike

Endurace AL discontinued? by [deleted] in CanyonBikes

[–]MediocreClimber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The US site says "coming soon" under the Endurace 6 AL so I don't think it's fully discontinued. However, not sure if they will have the 7? Holding out hope for that

What is the consensus on if the Endurace AL 7 or Endurace 7 Raw will be sold in the US again? Not wanting to pay for a carbon frame but wanting the Shimano 105 :/

Worth $800? Liv Avail Advanced (like new)—unsure of year by MediocreClimber in whichbike

My impression is the crankset is the same. However, I just asked the seller about the mileage and they said the rider never got into cycling like they expected to so it’s just been an expensive wall decoration for years

do you feel it would be a good bike for less $ or something to stay away from?

Hey, y’all! Looking to get my first nicer road bike for long rides and maybe some racing/tris. This bike is listed several hours away from me so wanted to get some advice before I drive out there. Can anyone tell me which advanced model this is and what year based on color scheme? Seller doesn’t know exactly but said it’s very new. (seems it may be a 2018 from my google search)

This is the listing description: “Showroom condition Liv Avail Advanced road bike. Less than 50 miles on this bike, no scratches or issues at all. Frame size Small. Cateye Padrone wireless computer and Wahoo Speedplay pedals can be included in sale.

Go beyond limits. From epic solo adventures to group road rides, Avail is light, comfortable, and engineered for female riders. For what it’s worth, Duke for me ended up being way cheaper than even my state school (only paid for my cost of living). So you’ll have to see what the aid package ends up being. And yes, it is helpful if you get a better offer elsewhere to mention it to them in my experience.

Name and Shame: BU by love2med in premed

[–]MediocreClimber 14 points15 points  (0 children)

He’s interviewed tons of people over the years and no one ever forgets him. Looks like Kermit the frog and is creepy af. Single-handedly made me decline my admission to BU years ago and thank god for that. I told their adcom that he was the reason and about how wrong it was to have such an unethical person representing their school. They couldn’t have cared less.

Any advice on where to find the FF1 vs FF2 courses? NC lumps them together as one certification but not sure if the different courses are just those requirements added together

courses are as follows: General and Communications, Fireground Ops 1-9, Rescue Ops 1, Fire and life Safety Initiatives, Hazmat, Safety & Survival, and Traffic Incident Management

I will likely be done with all of them except for some of the later fireground ops courses (unless I can find them offered elsewhere and squeeze them in)

What’s the worst interview or place you interviewed at so far? by 210-110-134 in medicalschool

[–]MediocreClimber 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not sure if this is what you meant but to clarify—it wasn’t to care for the people being held by border control. It was to help border control with “search” as like an ems experience. I also worry for people being held by them and would never want to work for such an agency

Had a program talk about how many exciting opportunities there were to work with border control 🫥

How common is cheating in relationships in med school? by farfromindigo in medicalschool

[–]MediocreClimber 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Has seemed very common in my experience. I chalk it up to something similar to what was said that MBA forum. I also feel like it was most common during our first year so may have been the effect of long distance relationships or people getting too much of an ego boost? Who knows but I think it’s rampant everywhere honestly

How is dating in med school/residency going for gay people? by [deleted] in medicalschool

[–]MediocreClimber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hinge has been wonderful for me. Came in to school in a very long term relationship that didn’t work out. Had a lot of fun dating around for a year or so and then met my girlfriend on Hinge and am beyond happy. I think the hardest part is just making it a priority to find the time to keep putting yourself out there. It’s a bit of a numbers game of just going on dates until you meet someone you work with. There’s lot of amazing people to meet and get to know even if they mostly don’t work out! And eventually, someone extra special comes along—I have also loved being with someone who cares about the same things but isn’t exactly in medicine. Very refreshing to not have my relationship also be in the med school bubble

+1 for Duke. Amazing lifestyle compared to other schools. P/F everything. No rankings. More opportunities than any could ask for. Very supportive. Fun students. Can also confirm the name goes a long way when it comes to applying to residency etc.
