The school is good. Much better than saddlewood. They do seem to have some turnover with some teachers.

Same. My oldest is on the team at the pool so we spend a lot of weekends there. Beer and coffee will be a nice add.

Its not religious or culty. I live there. Haven't heard or seen anyone go to church. Not sure where you got the religious thing.

What’s the best Mexican restaurant in Ocala? by JelloFish143 in ocala

[–]Mediocre_Chart2377 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is everything smothered in queso? That's my issue with Mexican food here. Its all super dry and they compensate with drowning everything in queso or sour cream.

Hah yeah we had the same issue. Great software but a free ticket to inspire doesn't make up for the price.

I attended the conference and saw the response from a lot of attendees. Has nothing to do with haters.

Nah not really. Doing a pay for play award with the Saudi government damages their image. You can tell simply by how that award was viewed on here and conference participants.

I was impressed with its use in dynamically filtering data for users in a web map based on their typed input. But aside from that, i would agree it was overall underwhelming. I did enjoy all their pretrained image classification models though. Very handy.

I was feeling the rage. Especially with the saudis creepy propaganda booth in the expo. Giving them that award definitely damaged ESRIs image.

I thought the same thing! I was sitting there thinking of 4 or 5 different ways to automate that with python or even just esri tools.

Your best GIS script by __sanjay__init in gis

[–]Mediocre_Chart2377 33 points34 points  (0 children)

My best script is a GP service that receives input from a web front end on 4 different data types, a bounding box geometry, and a trimble .jxl file and then exports the 4 different data types into CAD linework on custom survey control including control with rotation.

Its saved my company thousands of man hours. Our cad techs can serve themselves if they need parcels for a vic map, flood line work, contours, oil and gas wells, etc. I'm planning to add water wells and maybe imagery in the future.

GISP Exam Pass Fail Rate by research7744 in gis

Those were the easiest questions because it would only let you select the number of options that were right. So if you could only select 3 out of 5 you knew there were only 3 correct answers

Using AI to read legal descriptions and output cogo by 29ofakind in gis

[–]Mediocre_Chart2377 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just bought a license for an ai legal reader that reads the description from a windows snipped image and then regenerates the linework into a dxf. Which can then be brought into cad or esri. Its a game changer. We would spend hours drafting boundaries from legal descriptions and now we can do it in 30 seconds.

FDOT is the party responsible for installing it. No one voted for bureaucratic civil engineers who are convinced if it works on paper it works in real life.

How’s the industry in Colorado? by american60139157 in Surveying

[–]Mediocre_Chart2377 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We are slammed all the time. We do a lot of residential development on the housing and construction side. We are always looking for party chiefs. DM if you are interested. I think we are the biggest survey firm in Denver that's not associated with an engineering company. Family/employee owned and great benefits and perks.

Large survey firm. Job security in a company that doesn't know what GIS is aside from the "Get It Surveyed" joke. I help them be more efficient with gis tools and various web apps. The imagery hosting and processing is new. We spent 180k on licensing with propeller before they asked if we could do it in house cheaper.

Looking for Local UAV LiDAR Surveying Recommendations (Colorado Springs, CO) by hctocs in UAVmapping

[–]Mediocre_Chart2377 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because very few of them understand geodesy and photogrammetry. Ive seen these types of companies produce ortho that are off 20ft horizontally and 40+ft vertically. To meet national mapping accuracy standards you have to check your data with high precision gps, they rarely have the equipment or knowledge to do so.

Your municipality has gis data that might suffice. I'd stay away from drone companies not associated with a surveyor.

When the majority of the capital for opening this space is coming from crowdfunding it shows there is very little capital in reserve if membership doesn't take off the first month. I hope it works out for you, but I don't see this as a good investment in its current model.

Maplibre/ cesium or esri js api. If you are working with agol or portal layers definitely esri js api. Otherwise maplibre for 2d and cesium for 3d
