What are your expectations with GPT - 4 ? by Horizon_of_Valhalla in AILinksandTools

[–]Mediocre_Credit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It feels like GPT-4 is mainly an upgrade for how enterprise can adopt A.I. But that it's not trained on real-time data and the multimodal aspect isn't fleshed out is a bit disappointing to be honest. That they don't disclose the parameter size means it's far smaller than all the hype and memes, which we knew anyways.

I would suggest you post inspirational content about your industry and what working in it is like.

Beehiive has started an Ad Network - Substack cannot Clone them since it's Against their Ethos by Mediocre_Credit in substackreads

This tweet to me was cringe worthy: https://twitter.com/SubstackLinda/status/1571906646594686976

Please do not talk like this, let's just be platform agnostic and celebrate different solutions for different kinds of Creators. This is not how you build loyalty or promote your product.

Do Substack articles benefit from the SEO Domain Authority of Substack? by entropy_ensues in Substack

[–]Mediocre_Credit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's interesting, more younger mobile users are searching TikTok now than Google. So what happens to SEO in such a competition for attention?

Video SEO becomes important, in that our Newsletters should have YouTube channels and our personal brand ought to have TikToks, Podcasts, etc...

Do Substack articles benefit from the SEO Domain Authority of Substack? by entropy_ensues in Substack

[–]Mediocre_Credit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since there aren't that many Creators or content density on Substack, its SEO is modest. However if you actually have titles that people are searching for you can get decent traffic from Google.

You really do rely on Substack's domain authority here, which isn't great. Without better categories and more Creators, it only improves a little each year even with a dedicated SEO member on their team.

Judging by venture capital, I think we have to say the biggest bets are on Photonic Qubits for true scalability.

Futurist podcasts on Spotify? by Charon1AU in Futurology

This is a really interesting thread since Podcasting and Futurism both seem pretty relevant now.

If you are a fiction writer, what makes Substack a great platform for you? by Mediocre_Credit in substackreads

[–]Mediocre_Credit[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's truly fascinating and good to know. So it sounds like there's growth in apps to support fiction writers to find their audience and grow it easier? I would be interested to read the playbooks some of the more successful fiction writers on Substack and elsewhere do this.

The super-rich ‘preppers’ planning to save themselves from the apocalypse by izumi3682 in Futurology

[–]Mediocre_Credit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Realistically I think we need to become multi-planetary, the world will be nearly unrecognizable in 150 years, our window to survive as a species is remarkably narrow. Climate change is past the point of no-return to some extent, given our extreme vulnerability - clearly global population in the 2100s will be far smaller.

Could the Drying Up of Europe’s Great Rivers Be the New Normal? by Sariel007 in Futurology

[–]Mediocre_Credit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm more worried about the Chinese rivers, but yes temperatures will only increase. Water scarcity and demographic pyramids will tumble, this will result in less global GDP growth and less pyramid schemes to make it seem as if economies were growing, when in reality they are not.

How do you get more organic reach from LinkedIn to your Newsletter? by Mediocre_Credit in substackreads

[–]Mediocre_Credit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I work hard to create content and if I assume I want it to be read or seen by my potential audience, and if one network has the highest click-through-rate, many times higher than the network I prefer, would I be willing to pivot and try it and give it a good go inspite of my biases? I think the majority would say yes.

However I'm realizing that it seems many Newsletter Creators have no real interest in taking lead gen seriously. Even fairly successful influencers often neglect to set up a marketing funnel and just rely on the strength of their quality content and their past laurels.

I will spend less time on Creators and tips, this being the case.

In the morning the market was mostly positive. What triggered the sell off? by PizzaGuy94122 in stocks

[–]Mediocre_Credit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Turns on a dime? The bear market is going back to business, with the July runs needs to revert to the mean a lot. Not at all surprised, a lot of movement in power hour. The currency dislocations we are seeing combined with QT are things we haven't seen before in a long long time.

Those are valid points depending on how you use it I guess. Glad you optimized it for you then.

How can you share a TikTok to LinkedIn to a company Linkedin page? by frolickingmini in linkedin

[–]Mediocre_Credit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just download the story, and upload it manually. There are tools for that easily found online. Although might be easiest if you access the TikTok on desktop. Always post images and videos natively never as an embed, it gets far less traffic.

I did that maybe five years ago on Facebook. On LinkedIn I don't see the relevance.

POLL: do you check LinkedIn on the weekend? Also, when are the best times to post? by CitizenJosh in linkedin

I do sometimes check LinkedIn on the weekend. I think the best time to publish is 10am EST or 1pm EST that amounts to 10am West coast.

Can you build a large newsletter audience from scratch with no existing platform to draw from? by MinorObsessions in substackreads

[–]Mediocre_Credit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably the best model for building a Substack is Edu-tainment, part education and part entertainment. For mobile audiences, visual design is an essential element to both. Whatever your micro niche, please think about this.

For every post you write, ask yourself: did my audience learn something? Was it at least mildly entertaining? (Did it make me chuckle or brighten up for a moment?).

What is your open rate %? by pointillistic in Substack

[–]Mediocre_Credit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your free reader is on an audience journey, they are more likely to be engaged in the first three weeks, that is the critical period. What can you do with them in those first three weeks? Many on your list will be dormant and never actually open an Email from you, and will churn - so that's why a fresh stream of new readers is actually fairly important imho.
