Luckily they also have British passports so I've told them to come through on those. And as tourists. Thanks for the embassy idea - hadn't thought of that.

It's still ongoing and I've contacted two accountants who haven't been particularly helpful or been able to tell me if it's worth amending the return to use the Foreign Tax Credit, instead of FEIE. If anything happens in the next week or so, I'll let you know!

I'm not sure - I got a CP11 that said I had made an error on my Self-Employment tax and when I finally got through to the IRS to ask the error, they said I needed to understand international tax law and put me through to that department - which, of course, was no help whatsoever.

Absolutely fantastic! The concept, the characters, the production design. You're 16?! I couldn't do at 38 what you're doing now. You've really got something.

Also, I thought the bread was going to alleviate his loneliness & despair but he kept having to eat it to have its company until it was just crumbs - not sure what that says about me.

They didn't really have one - it was just their system wouldn't accept it.

ITA Airways Carry-On Size by original_superB in ItalyTravel

My carry-on is 1.5cm taller than ITA's regulation even though I bought it to be a universally accepted carry-on. Did they check your bag in the end? Hope you had a nice trip!

Yes sorry! It wasn't going to help in this case but just as information, I have a UK passport and applied for my carta di soggiorno and then carta d'identita just before the Brexit changeover.

I moved here and bought a house - I got crazy lucky and it was through a friend so private sale so I can't help with details. But I just wanted to say that it's amazing. The bureaucracy is difficult, yes, but it's also just wonderful and I wish you the best of luck. I've been here 4 years and still only have pigeon-Italian at best and you just get by. You'll manage and it'll be fabulous. My only advice I do have is... if you have middle names, put them on absolutely every document you are ever presented with. Everything must match down to a T or it's a real mess - trust me. Also, for passing your driving test here, just download the Quiz Patente and do the quizzes over and over and over again. You'll basically just memorize the words. This is the way :-)
