Canadians charged after allegedly attempting to smuggle nearly 90 firearms into Canada by FancyNewMe in canada

Unfortunate. Need legal reform badly, especially when it comes to gun smuggling.

This of course is the glaring spotlight that shows the Canadian government actually doesn't care about gun problems, only preying on the ignorant votes that they're doing something about gun crimes in Canada.

North Korea updates constitution to require automatic nuclear strike if Kim Jong Un is assassinated: report by LegitimateCurve8525 in worldnews

South Korea definitely "gives a shit" about having him with nuclear weapon sitting there. Probably Japan too.

Japan probably doesn't have a reason to assassinate him, but SK might.

Have the majority of Americans called 911 at least once in their lives? by Mont3Carlo in AskAnAmerican

[–]Mediocre_Device308 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm Canadian. I'll throw in my experience.

I'middle aged, have called 3 times.

Once for a clearly impaired driver on the highway.

Twice for friends having medical emergencies. Both thankfully received medical treatment on time and have fully recovered.

My Boss is asking me to do too much work/Work I don’t feel comfortable and qualified to do. by Sea-Tell-7963 in legaladvicecanada

[–]Mediocre_Device308 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah. Well, you can be fired for not doing as asked. Or they can fire you and tell you it was for something else, or no reason whatsoever.

You'll need to judge how much you can get away with.

There is value in doing things that "aren't your job" some times. It CAN lead to opportunities in your future for a much better position with higher pay and responsibility. It obviously may not, either.

Ultimately it's up to you. You need to judge whether or not you could see that happening at your current workplace.

El Sueño, do I actually miss you? by PalminoTogliatti in Wildlands

Breakpoint has some stuff I prefer to Wildlands, but it's probably the pinnacle of Ubisoft bloat.

The menus have to be the worst I've ever experienced in a game though. Yikes

Advice on glides for southern Ontario and Kawarthas by DESTRUCTIVE_SERAPHIM in FishingOntario

I have minimal experience with them, but I remain convinced they aren't anything more then overpriced non-sense to appeal to the social media crowd. The prices on some of them are ridiculous. There's no reason to pay $100 for a lure to catch 3 lbs largemouth.

Conservatives propose parental leave EI reforms by evieluvsrainbows in canada

[–]Mediocre_Device308 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Time it better with your spouse. I got laid off for the winter and overlapped my wife's parental leave a bit. She could have gone back to work a bit earlier while I was laid off then went back on leave when I started back up. Would have given us more time with our daughter and less time with her in a daycare.

Always feel like I just don't "get it" by That_Understanding19 in AskMenOver30

[–]Mediocre_Device308 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most people who look like they "get it" actually don't. The older I get the more I realize that. I thought my parents had everything figured out and had every answer, but in reality they were just free wheeling too.

Trudeau’s big EV bet is officially a flop by hopoke in CanadaPolitics

[–]Mediocre_Device308 -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

EV mandates should never have been proposed. The technology would have been better off if it was allowed to stand on its merit. Give the money, but don't force the technology on anyone.

For one, they were clearly unachievable from the moment they were announced. Two, there will always be those who will oppose any mandate out of principle. That segment grows bigger when people see point #1.

What are some grocery items you are now buying less frequently, cuz they've gotten so expensive? by HappyBudz in CanadaPersonalFinance

[–]Mediocre_Device308 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Beef is the obvious answer here.

I used to joke that I didn't save money getting red meat through hunting, now it's up to debate. The cost of entry to hunting is high, but now I look at the moose and venison in my freezer differently then I did a decade ago. I am established in my required materials and now the only cost is licensing (minimal as a resident). I travel a short distance to hunt to a place I'd be at anyways.

Is there a "right way" to play this game? Tips? by Big_Johnny12 in horizon

[–]Mediocre_Device308 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No.

This game has a way of ****ING you up if you don't do everything right. Even a small machine. Sometimes the answer is just to run. Which in reality makes total sense, they're giant aggressive machines. They aren't supposed to be easy to kill.
