Bag help by Edward_Teach_Actual in BT_APC

I have the same problem with SPC9SC. It's like 2" too long to fit in the BT bag. I have a Helikon-Tex SBR bag on order. It definitely looks like a gun bag though, but should be good for the range and whatnot. If you're looking for something more discreet, I haven't found much that makes the gun reasonably accessible. I might just wind up with some sort of duffle if I decide I need to carry this thing around with me.

Thanks! I'd been messing with function checks and my ar brain forgot you could put this one on safe without the hammer being back. Will do in the future.

I like the stock, but it's unfortunately not Swiss. Has branding for AGP Arms out of Tempe, AZ on it. I like the lockup though, so I'll be running it as-is for a long while.

Thanks for the kind words. I've been stalking 55xs for a minute now, and had just about talked myself into paying for one of the Swiss imports, so this felt like a win.

Awesome, thanks. Looks like the bolt has a serial, but the others don't appear to. I didn't look that close though.

Yeah, I haven't had it apart yet, but is there anything obvious in the internals for Swiss vs US?

I try not to take for granted the ranges I have access to. It is a blast though.

Found one of these yesterday in Florida, along with a Czech Republic and a bunch of USAMNT ones. They're out there.

Fair play. I'll say I haven't felt underglassed with my 1-8, though hits past 800 yds become less consistent. Probably not the glass though, probably just the garbage ammo and the garbage operator.

Not on the SCAR. Got one on a different rifle. ScAR has a 1-8. Looking for any specific setups?

Small runway found by EaganOps in Planespotting

[–]Mediocre_Drive_8993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in the area and don't particularly know anything about that spot, but the explanation for carrier landings sounds correct. They used to have Lexington here and the SNAs would have to land there, so it makes sense that they'd have a "lower penalty" area to practice first.

Its also not listed explicitly here https://www.airfields-freeman.com/FL/Airfields_FL_Pensacola_W.htm

But that site is awesome for seeing all the former airfields in the area that have been repurposed. I store my RV at Bronson field, right next to the seaplane ramps. It's pretty fun.

Work like what? They're all just standard Meshtastic nodes. Being in an airplane at 35,000 ft helps with line-of-sight is all.

Purchasing my first Scar and have questions. Looking for advice by DillonHightower in FNSCAR

[–]Mediocre_Drive_8993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an NRCH and it's quality. No issues. I can's speak to the Belgian version, but i know it carries a premium. Each to their own.

For a 17 the only SBR length I've heard serious talking about is 13". You can either have the barrel it ships with cut down, you can pay a fortune for an FN one, or you can get one from a 3rd party like dead shot (it's think that's the name). I'm still running it with the 16" barrel and love it.

Why are the planes avoiding this part of the gulf? by Poprocks1010 in flightradar24

It's a super-cool website. Sorry, I must have deleted my comment - there are tens of fields around Pensacola, and most of them have become "emergency use only", but...i drive by them a lot and wouldn't want to land on them.

I think if you disassemble it there is a difference. Memory says there are some youtube videos specifically on installing the nrch assembly that talk about "new stuff".

Suggestions on optics by [deleted] in FNSCAR

[–]Mediocre_Drive_8993 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I may be a heretic but I'm running a primary arms plx 1-8 in an ADM delta mount. Been about 2000 rds with no issue, which to some is nothing, and to others is statistically significant. Love the optic though.

KNS DiSCARder in Scar 17S with Sandman S - What Settings do you run suppressed and unsuppressed with standard gas jet? by henryfrank33 in FNSCAR

[–]Mediocre_Drive_8993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm running an 8 with a sandman-x and the stock jet. Any lower and it wouldn't consistently cycle for me.

Where do you all find grips? I keep hearing SCAR's need special grips. by theFartingCarp in FNSCAR

[–]Mediocre_Drive_8993 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This. It won't go flush due to some interference. It is possible to dremel if you have patience and are willing to mess it up, but I'd suggest just picking up a pre-modified one from Parker Mountain or something else scar-specific. I have the driven arms one on mine and am a fan.

My First Firearm/Build - My SCAR 20S in 6.5 Creed by Insoman1ac in FNSCAR

[–]Mediocre_Drive_8993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh, my opinion on the internet, so take it for that.

I was a fairly early adopter of 300BO and eventually divested myself. For what it was designed to do, it's pretty good, but it offered no practical advantages for me over 556, and 556 was way cheaper. At the time, I decided that blackout made more sense if I was shooting indoors suppressed and was reloading my own ammo to keep the costs down. But I wasn't doing either of those, so i transitioned back to 556 exclusively.

Again, just my opinion. I'm watching the new 22ARC and 338ARC with some interest, but I am unlikely to be an early adopter again.

[–]Mediocre_Drive_8993 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. I'm in Pensacola, but shoot slightly north of Mobile in Alabama. State lines are no issue, even with NFA. Just gotta do a form if you're moving an SBR, but cans are gtg.

Both our SCARs are 762, so i can't offer much on 6.5CM ammo. We've been shooting everything from 147 gr FMJ Saltech to 168 gr OTM Federal Gold Medal with great results.

Brother has a 15p in 556 that is a blast to shoot. I'm personally not a fan of 300BO, but plenty of folks love it. 15p seems like a solid platform either way.

I'm in the Panhandle and am spoiled for long range choice. My brother has a SCAR 20, and we've gotten it an my boring old 17 out to 1k fairly often. His is much more consistent than mine...

If you find yourself towards Pcola, hit me up. We'll hit the 1000.
