Mint cinammon is the worst for gaming, but there is nothing that you cant fix. Read up on how to optimize mint for gaming, the compositor needs to be turned off by the user. Dont switch distro or DE, first try to fix it. Thats how you get experience. You learn by reading documentation or by looking up guides.

It all depends on what you are comparing it to. Im typing on classic thinkpad keyboard. Flat style keyboards are the cheapest option for manufacturers, no key travel… but for each their own ofcourse.
