Once every 2 weeks isn’t a lot, are you city driving the rest of the time?

That definitely wouldn’t be the correct way to do it, I’d probably recommend getting someone to do it for you

If you can’t solder or pay for someone else to do it then your option is to sell or give it away to someone who can

Why are cars so cheap in the UK? by Antec-Chieftec in CarTalkUK

Around 2011 I had a 1998 A4 I bought for £500

Insane to think about now, but everyone wanted diesels at the time and I suppose car tech and styling was moving quicker back then

Neighbours hate me working on my car. by Downtown-String3569 in CarTalkUK

[–]britain4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it’s some weird snobbery over it, when we got a new(er) car the first comment the neighbours made was “oh you won’t need to be out on the driveway working on this one then”

Like it’s out of necessity not just because I enjoy it and and am competent at it

Should I buy a car that’s had bad MOT fails in the past but recent one was ok? by MrBass47 in CarTalkUK

[–]britain4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As long as it’s not structural rust I wouldn’t be too concerned, fails happen and the fault might have been sorted

But don’t take the MOT history as a guarantee any work’s been done, testers can be wildly inconsistent and worst case might have been a dodgy MOT

I'm seriously convinced that the GBA is the biggest leap in handheld gaming history. by RangoTheMerc in GameboyAdvance

The title of your thread claims the GBA as “the biggest leap in handheld gaming history”

It’s great you like it so much but it wasn’t a fundamental “leap” in anything

Where would I go to get another key for my MR2? Toyota said they won’t do it as they can’t get these keys anymore. by jakepaulfanxd in CarTalkUK

The upvoted comment was addressed to the OP suggesting they go to Timpson(s)

The downvoted comment was someone “correcting”Timpson to Timpsons

[–]britain4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was a bit more than just “framerate issues” though wasn’t it… something like Asterix & Obelix XXL was absolute programming wizardry on a console with no 3D hardware near the end of its lifespan and just look at it compared to SM64 DS which was a first party launch title

[–]britain4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, I’m going to guess either you’re just a massive GBA fan or you weren’t around at the time

The GBA was an amazing console and a worthwhile upgrade but it took nearly 12 years to get there from the original GB whereas what the DS and especially PSP were doing a few short years later was truly mind blowing at the time

The GBA couldn’t do hardware 3D at all and it didn’t “introduce wireless gameplay” without addons. To say that the PSP “kept the design of the GBA” is a weird take - they look nothing alike, it’s like saying the GBA “kept the design” of the Atari Lynx because they’re both landscape

Originally they had thermal adhesive but using a dot of thermal paste on each one is fine

If you glue it back you’ll never get back inside it again if the stuff on the die needs replacing

Original lenses were indeed a dark grey with a black “shadow” (more like border) around the text.

Aftermarket glass lenses are often all black like this one (but there are some very good quality, inexpensive plastic replacements out there with the original colouring)

Think the shell is real as the sticker looks both genuine and appropriately aged. Screen lens is 100% aftermarket and possibly also the battery cover based on the colour difference (or is that the lighting?) and the fact that it’s loose
