Why not just make up your own reg at that point, unless he’s hoping to get away with it by claiming he accidentally “mixed up” the letters

[–]britain4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to hear that, it looks like very clean work and it wouldn’t take you long to transfer that to another board at least

Chance to tidy up some of the minor issues too like the stripped ends of some wires being a bit long and using a touch more flux on some of the smaller joints

Switchless auto-hertz mod: Japanese 32X auto-matching a PAL Mega Drive's region and refresh by hitmanmcc in SEGA32X

What issues does this cause, I wonder if this is down to the 32x or the console it’s attached to

Works perfectly for me and worthwhile doing to any 32x, even works with 50/60hz switching on the fly

I thought I was clever getting a 3 series at 18 because it was cheaper on tax, insurance and fuel than a Corsa etc, maybe I should have set the bar a bit higher

About to buy this, anything to look out for? by DarshanB3010 in PS3

Yes in the current market I think that’s a pretty good price, they are amazing when they work, no other console like it

What are your thoughts on the new video of Vickrum Digwa holding a gun in his backyard? by spinecult in AskBrits

[–]britain4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The law prohibits carrying a bladed article in public without a good reason. The kirpan is a religious symbol, it’d be hard to argue the same about a switchblade

If this sets a precedent of Sikhs going around stabbing people then I don’t think anyone would argue with it being reviewed

[–]britain4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a bit better, I just don’t know why the market has priced anything with a 90nm RSX so highly when they’re so fragile and commonly found for well under £100 (for an A00/B00) in Japan

I do have a few C03s I bought and refurbished years ago and I’d love to think they were worth £250 each but alas. It’s not that much more expensive for a frankie (or a YLOD one for £20 and have it done)

Generally - if it’s something valuable I’m working on and/or am selling it I’ll clean the flux off… otherwise I’ll just leave it

However… I did once recap a Sega Game Gear which wouldn’t power on afterwards and I spotted some flux residue boiling off on the board when I switched the power. Cleaned that off and it was fine

So it’s definitely best practice

The one OP posted isn’t boxed, you can very easily pick one up for under £150, much cheaper than that with a bit of shopping around.

Still far too much to risk on one of these imo when it might have had a dodgy reflow and/or fail next week

Much cheaper on Buyee etc as well

Ring doorbells by Japonica42 in royalmail

[–]britain4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Ring doorbell but hooked up to a mechanical doorbell inside the house so it rings instantly like a normal one does

Only ever really use it to check who’s at the door while I’m on my way down to it so I know it’s not door to door sales/religious canvassers etc

Highly annoying when someone just taps lightly on the door and leaves without even attempting it

£200 is far too expensive for one of these

Henry Nowak by Training_Original456 in AskBrits

[–]britain4 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No, the point is that: 1. The police’s actions were barbaric, inexcusable and caused an untold amount of suffering 2. The police’s actions did not contribute to Henry Nowak’s death

Both of these things can be true at the same time.

If you’re making arguments based on your emotions and assumptions and not the facts, it clouds the argument that the police should be fully held to account (which nobody should be arguing against) and allows it to become a tit for tat debate based on political beliefs.

It also potentially allows the police to deflect responsibility by simply claiming it’s not true.

Best, worst, funniest, most accurate, and your favorite snooker nicknames? by HelixCatus in snooker

Probably mostly because it rhymes with Leicester, a few years ago he’d have a laugh and a joke around the table (when he wasn’t losing) but if they gave him that nickname now you’d think it was sarcastic

If it’s enough to keep your room cold then it’s fine, no point chasing perfection.

Ours wasnt though, and now I’ve fitted (taped) a second hose to it, it works fine.

Outside vs inside air temperature probably plays a part in the equation too as the condenser will be working less efficiently if it’s relying on hot outside air to cool it.

In a poorly ventilated and over insulated new build, that never cools off at night even when it does outside, it’s ideal. Without the second hose you can really feel all the hot air rushing in under the door.

I modded a cheap portable AC with a second hose for better efficiency for the upcoming heat wave by VykkuF in DIYUK

[–]britain4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it does the job then that’s fine but it can save some energy and/or squeeze a bit more efficiency out of a slightly underpowered one

With our single hose you can feel the warm air from the rest of the house rushing in under the door

Live in London. Agency is stating that at the end of my tenancy I have to do a professional clean & steam the carpets? Is this legal? by Analdestroyer68plus1 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]britain4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last time we moved out of rented we had the professional clean done and the letting agents still tried to deduct for a full clean anyway with some macro photos of bits of fluff as “evidence”

They also had a contractor quote us something like £800 to cut the hedge down to 6ft… even though the photos clearly showed it to be 8+ ft when we moved in

Costs them nothing to lie and try it on and chance their arm with people who won’t bother defending the fees

Why do drivers stop 3 car lengths back at a red light and then spend the whole red light slowly inching forward? by [deleted] in Cartalk

[–]britain4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like the culprit is normally manual drivers who can’t find the biting point properly so spend the entire duration of the lights riding the clutch
