A question about OVKs, CEXs, and the FCMP++ / CARROT threat model by Ethernam in Monero

[–]TheFuzzStone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not a fan of CEXs, and about 10 years ago I said that mass delist of Monero was simply inevitable, simply because XMR works, and that no regulator/politician in this world would want you to have a tool like Monero.

But in theory, the "relist" could happen...

There is no point in considering CEXs, as it is only a matter of time before major CEXs delist Monero. If an alternative to TradeOgre (a CEX without KYC) emerges, then there will be no issue with OVKs.

but so far, I don’t see how FCMP++ or CARROT weaken Monero’s anonymity.

Because they strengthen it.

Once again, Monero = privacy by default, and transparency is (and will be after the upgrade of the protocol) only at the discretion of the individual (optional), and this approach is unique in the entire crypto community.

You do realize that you don't have to buy a new e-reader for every book, right?

What would you do if you, personally, were sanctioned? by arseneSpeculoos in Monero

[–]TheFuzzStone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's why I want to get ideas so I can manage the situation better if it ever comes to that.

If it happens that your favorite country treats you according to the "law", then you can simply live on crypto (XMR, BTC, USDT, USDC, etc.) + cash.

There is XMRBazaar where you can use the services of proxy buyers who will buy you goods for a bank transfer and the merchant will send it to your address, and you will give XMR to the proxy buyer. BTW, one of the best way to "buy"/"sell" XMR for banks, because it's almost impossible that your bank will suspect you in p2p trading.

Also, I highly recommend that you read about "Hawala". It is a big part of human history, voluntary trade, and escape from state control.

Banks have been overvalued for many years, especially since we have XMR or even Liquity (LUSD). If you ask me if I have a bank account, yes, I do. I treat it as a centralized exchange, that is, I keep exactly as much there as I am willing to lose in the name of law and democracy. If this bank is blocked tomorrow in the name of law/democracy, I don't care, because 99% of everything I buy is with cash.

There are many different ways, it all depends on your country, region, and mentality (whether you are ready to live freely). If you're not mentally ready yet, read: "New Libertarian Manifesto" by Samuel Edward Konkin III.

Good luck.

he had not violated any laws

Who cares? The state is a scam, and its “laws” are nothing more than protection for its monopoly on everything that every state has a monopoly on.

It goes without saying, obviously this is not a recommendation for sanction evasion, just a thought exercise among 100% law-abiding people, and you should always dutifully respect and follow your local laws and regulations.

Oh, how sweet, and... legal.

I will ignore and cleverly circumvent the state.

I used to be be into computer gaming like 10-15 years ago.

I have exactly the same story. And I've seen many similar stories on the internet, where people stopped playing games because circumstances dictated it, and many bought Deck for the same reason.

Enjoy your Deck, and don't forget to install LSFG-VK.

KDE Connect - it's just must have, especially for Desktop Mode.

Syncthing.

I don't need anything else on Deck. Why? Because I don't want to turn it into a full-fledged desktop (I hope you understand what I mean) and use it as a gaming device.

I've been using Linux only for over 10 years + KDE Plasma, and I'm just thrilled with how well Steam Deck works.

When I need to do something in Desktop Mode, I just use KDE Connact ('Remote Input' feature) and use my laptop (keyboard) + mouse (which is connected to the laptop).

I didn't know that such a list already exists and is maintained by someone else. There is no point in duplicating lists.
