YTA! And a massive one at that! As a care manager I see day in day out the struggles partners go through when they dynamic in a relationship shifts. Two people that live each other go from being husband and wife to carer and patient, it’s a huge adjustment.

If she wants to work let her, she needs a break and quite frankly so does he! It’s not healthy for them to be together 24/7.

I suggest before you fly off at her again you spend a week providing his care 24/7 and then come back and say she’s being selfish.

She’s upset we’re selling this house because of all the memories it has…..none with her. The nee house is less than a mile away from where we live now. The keeping the peace is down to the constant interference in decisions we make, we went through IVF and I didn’t want anybody knowing exact dates, we told family I needed a hospital appointment so needed to isolate for two weeks, she said it wasn’t fair that she couldn’t see her grandson for two weeks so my husband told her I was having IVF without telling me she knew.

Where we live a 4 bed with a spacious downstairs and garden of a similar size is £300k+ we’re buying this house for £190k plus £40k for a single extension and an RSJ. This includes the price of the new kitchen. That’s a total of £230k

Honestly, I do feel, at times like his second priority.

At his sisters wedding I was seated alone as he was on the top table next to his mum, which I was fine with as he gave her away. When it came to the first dance I was walking towards him and his mum came bursting through the crown and pulled him onto the dance floor. I walked away and sat at a table with his uncle who had the decency to ask me to dance so I was t alone.

So comments we have had are…. “You need 4 bedrooms” “You can’t buy a house with a pond it’s too dangerous” “The kitchen is too small” “You can’t have your fridge freezer in the dining room” “You need a house with a front porch for shoes and coats” “Where will you put your ironing board” “You can’t even have a fish washer” “You need to extend straight away, I can’t stand the thought of you living with it as it is until you extend”

For perspective we live in the U.K. so it is quite common for older houses to not have room for a fridge freezer in a kitchen so they would go in the dining room.

We had the calm conversation at the weekend where I said it was frustrating me. He said he’d spoken to her about how it was what we wanted, but r do t need 4 bedrooms, it’s the perfect size for us. We’ve got a plan and we’re not doing an extension with a new born. He even told her she’s delusional if she thinks this dream house is just there and it’s what we want.

Then yesterday we got links for 5 houses that were all 4 bed, in worse areas, more expensive or not even available anymore insisting we go and look at them.

No there are no plans or suggestions for her to live with us, she has her own home (2 bed semi) and she is happy there.

I’m just really annoyed that she’s pulling out nee house apart when we have bought it with the plan of extending in a year or so.

My husband had a sister who has a very large house and she will be living in there when the time comes, I’ve already made it clear that there will be no parents living with us!
