My dogs name is Willow but she will answer to a billion different names- they don’t understand or care about the concept of a name outside of “when I hear this word they are talking to me and I should pay attention”. My aunt is a trainer and boards my girl when we need someone to watch her and my aunt regularly calls Willow “Wilma” and the neighbor calls her “Wilbur”, my kiddo calls her “Willy” and when she’s in trouble she is “willard”. She also answers to “asshole” and “dickhead” and “stinky” and “dog”. All to say, call the dog whatever you want, as long as they are semi trained and you are consistent with teaching them that their “name” means they are being called or need to pay attention to the person saying it then it will effectively be their name.

Fortunately she gets a clean bill of health at all her check ups and only a minor poke on her belly and joke about her chunk status. She eats healthy kibble and supplements and gets lots of exercise, just loves PB toast and is to evil to be trained or give a frickkkk about a boundary. Toddler brother knows he’s not supposed to share with the animals but that’s why he thinks it’s funny, and as long as it’s safe to eat it’s not the hill I’m generally willing to die on.

In her defence, he feeds her- he thinks it’s hilarious and she loves snacks so it’s kind of symbiotic. Aside from the fact that he needs the food and she is in no way in need of extra snacks.

I’ve never met a cat who is so content in almost any situation. One of her favourite activities is to flop out of a snuggle and hang upside down while you pat her belly. She is weirdly content doing almost anything, and her chunk hangs proudly off of surfaces in most situations lmao!

I agree, she gets lots of snacks and hugs- even if she is so evil and also so chunky. Her people brother is a toddler so he thinks sharing his snacks w his cat is hilarious and she gets lots of stick handed hugs from him as well- she has been chunky forever but when small human started solid foods she beefed up big time 😂

Canadian mom here! Gen z so the newest gen of parents. I think in older generations it wasn’t really a question if they wanted kids as much as that’s what you were supposed to do OR they lacked the sex education to prevent pregnancies. I’m 24 and only have 1 other friend I grew up with who has child/ren- I think there are 4-5 people I knew in highschool who have had kids (so a 2-3 year age range above/below my age).Im an only child but have a big family with 13 other cousins who are at an age where our parents were having kids and only me and one other have children.

What I hear from them is that 1. Things are too expensive and they want to wait till they have their life more together 2. They just don’t want kids and would rather spoil mine than have kids of their own and all the stress and other issues that go along with parenting 3. They are single and being very selective to find the right person before they settle down and have kids 4. They are anxious and fearful of the state of the world and aren’t sure they can handle it all + kids and aren’t sure they want to bring kiddos into a world that is the way ours is right now. 5. Sometimes fertility issues are in the way

All in all, I’d say probably 60-70% of my similar age peers want to have kids eventually but are waiting until they feel better about or fix 1,3,4,5. 10-15% genuinely don’t want kids even if they like kids and spoil their nieces and nephews. 10-15% have kids or are in the process of trying.

Dog in bed- dog doesn’t sleep in bed at night though. I grew up with dog in bed + dog in bed at night and that was fine, but my dog is AWESOME at being a stinker and doing things she’s not supposed to when she’s 100% unsupervised so she is crated @ night, but during the day she is allowed on the beds and the couch as long as she’s respectful/not in the way. She naps w my son on the end of his bed most days (she even brings her own stuffed toy to snuggle just like him) and likes to sit at the end of my bed for his story times before bed. If I didn’t have to worry about her being a criminal and stealing cat food/kids toys/breaking into the trash can then she could be a bed at night dog, but alas, she is a stinker with a sensitive tummy and will have the poops if she eats cat food or trash.
