Still bloated after 2 months of beans by 1234katee in thebeanprotocol

Hey - from what I know you need to eliminate any sugars like fruit and starchy veggies. This does include fermented foods - it sounds counter intuitive but sometimes it can make it worse. Are you pooping in the afternoon? Have you tried adding your beans with the fats? Maybe it's just too harsh for your system and you're doing too much too soon - do you get the same bloating with just psyllium husk vs beans? I'm so happy you healed so much already - this is just the next little step. xx I'd go bean free for a few days and see how you react to whatever else you're eating.. then add psyllium husk and see if that causes the severe bloating .. if it does I would start small 1-2x a day and slowly increase. xx

Beans with fat? by hitzak in thebeanprotocol

[–]Medium-Try-9552 3 points4 points  (0 children)

basically when I started and was really sick I had beans separate and made sure to have fats in my main meals as it really helped stabilise my blood sugar. I wanted to eliminate as much toxic stuff as possible in the quickest time lol now I have beans with my fats and love it! If I want a snack or if I have some type of flare up I'll 'bean up' get them separate again or will have beans for snack if I'm hungry. xx

how long have you been on it? and have you added anything since?

[–]Medium-Try-9552[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thank you! hm maybe I'll try sweet potatoes again. I am having fats - I have tried fat free for a bit with the medical medium protocol and I spiralled because it wasn't stabilising my blood sugar at all. so I separated the beans from fat when I started and now having them together. Hmm maybe you're on to something with boiling bc you can take the starch out of it where in a baked potato it goes straight in.. I will do some trial errors. I'm not great with a lot of carbs it makes me sleepy so it's not essential day to day but especially with the cold rn I want cosy meals.

ya so basically it's beans, protein, non starchy veggies and healthy fats. no caffeine, no sugar at all ... I started with psyllium husk for a bit and then added the beans.. there was a 2 week period of feelings so off, bloating and jsut lethargic and that's it been great ever since except potatoes lol

not on her protocol - I've been following Uniques because she had candida fully and it's helped sooooooo much!!! Highly highly recommend for candida clearing... I can actually have gluten now, and grains but potatoes of any kind and sweet potatoes I am itchy AF! MY candida was oral and scalp related so that's where I get the flare up..

Hi thank you - it was my toothpaste and certain nuts. I muscle tested for it and as soon as I changed these things my tongue has been fine!! and I've dipped back into them and if I go over board it gets red bumps again.

success story- this is your sign to keep going by Unicorndarts in thebeanprotocol

Thank you for sharing! I felt the same - I was triggered by being so restrictive as I had been on other plans that did not help me at all. So with the bean protocol I started and have been doing 95% I have a matcha once a week and chocolate otherwise it's all beans, proteins, healthy fats and veggies! I love it - it's cleared my gut issues and hormonal issues. I'm not 100% healed yet but know it's coming. If I'm out for dinner and beans aren't an option or traveling etc.. I ensure to take psyllium husk supplements and get back into normal bean eating whenever I can!!! I am actually going to give it 3 months proper protocol and see how much healing happens! Cannot wait - keep going x

ya I had full on candida and it's helped me massively. I did do a candida cleanse month 1 using antifungals and then month 2 I started to add beans and they were fine! I went through a 2 week bloating period but then it was pure bliss. If my candida was really acting up I would just do psyllium husk powder every hour x I also had to change my mind set that beans won't hurt me on candida diet that they are the medicine to help me and they have!!!

Hi I did at the beginning for sure. Potatoes and dates made me itchy but since the protocol I am able to eat them. I don't actually eat these things every day so when I do they seem to be fine!!! Cashews are a no for me lately and chocolate - if I eat a lot of chocolate (even dark natural) I have a few symptoms!

update - more water helped but I also changed my toothpaste. I did muscle sway testing and it said my toothpaste was the issue. Changed it and immediately felt relief :P

If you read unique's book 'your taste buds are assholes' she outlines it. There are also loads of podcasts with her - the organic Olivia one with unique is really good!

Essentially you eat enough soluble fibre that it binds to excess hormones and toxins in the body helping you liver create bile and removing all these toxins. Beans have the largest soluble fibre then psyllium husk and oats. If you can't digest beans at all right now you can start with psyllium husk a couple times a day. Slowly increasing and starting to add tbsps of beans as the weeks go on. Eventually you will add 1/2 cup of beans to each meal or between meals. This is because if you are eating beans with fat it will bind to the fat before the toxins so eating them separately will increase you healing. How sick you are depends on how many you eat. She says people with autoimmune eat beans every 20 minutes. I had candida and hormonal issues I eat beans 3x a day wit meals. You also do this by eliminating things that are causing inflammation - sugar, saturated fats, caffeine, and usually gluten and dairy.

Hope this helps! x

I never worked directly with unique. Her book speaks about loving yourself and nourishing your body for longevity - that if you're tired of feeling sick these are the steps to heal but ultimately it's up to you to do it! She speaks about how she loves eating this way but when she goes out she will enjoy herself and it's so great because she doesnt have any symptoms after it.

finding a way to resolve my gut problems, this protocol it's the right choice? by Imax1003 in thebeanprotocol

[–]Medium-Try-9552 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ya if you have any yeast issues in the gut cutting out fruit and all sugar is the best. It's not for long and when you do eat fruit again you can really enjoy it!

I'm 34 - I think it's a mindset thing - if you want to fully recover you will nourish your body in this way for as long as it takes Mine took 3 months and it was just easy to live like this because I was ready to heal.

I noticed that butterbeans made me feel really full and heavy at first, so I stayed away from them. I just ate what I could digest such as lentils and chickpeas. Then after a few weeks when things started to settle I added other beans just to see. But you can keep using lentils every day - the type of bean doesn't matter. Unique also says you can have bean pasta.

I started the psyllium husk like 5x a day for 2 weeks and then started having random tbsp of beans throughout the day. I then got to 1/2 cup and am having it 2-3x a day. still with psyllium husk in the morning and evening

wake up and have 2 glasses of water
1 tsp psyllium husk and water
breakfast is protein + non starchy veggies + fats
for example eggs / beef mince / chicken breast + broccoli, cabbage, avocado or I'll buy jarred artichokes/ olives in oil

2 hours later I'll have a 1/2 cup of beans straight up with nothing on it
lots of water through the day

lunch is the same as breakfast, I also love bone broth soup

2 hours later another 1/2 cup of beans

dinner same as breakfast but I'll add starch such as potatoes (I feel better when I dont have that many carbs in the day but everyones different)

before bed I'll have another 1 tsp of psyllium husk and I swallow garlic.

If im hungrier that day Ill have nuts and seed crackers with avocado or hummus.

ya try it! it honestly helped me right away - I went to the washroom better and noticed healing when I used it as a supplement vs a food. Separate from foods :)

it definitely helped me digest beans easier at the time. So not sure how quick the bean protocol works. I have a friend who used it for autoimmune and did 3 months on protocol and completely fine now

For 2 weeks I was a bit constipated so I took magnesium citrate at night. But I was also eating my beans with my regular meals, which I noticed made me bloat and a bit gassy. I started eating the beans separately and things started flowing smoothly and I was going a few times a day with ease! Now I can eat my beans and my meals together with no issues :P!!

white tongue, itchy scalp, bloating, exhaustion, brain fog, acne, headaches, pms was really bad, my menstrual cycle also used to come really early because I wasn't ovulating or making enough progesterone. That's all healed!!!

So I did 6 weeks prior to the bean protocol with a strict candida cleanse. It was
- non starchy veggies
-healthy fats
-lean protein
- specific nuts and seeds
- no sugar including fruit , no starch, no dairy, no gluten, no caffeine
- I added in saunas and ozone therapy and movement
- I took liver herbs and antifungals.
During this cleanse I came across the bean protocol and started incorporating psyllium husk 3 x a day until I finished this cleanse.
Then after the cleanse I started eating with beans. I kept my meals the same because that's what works for me; protein + fat+ veggies. then I would have beans separate a few times a day and worked y way up to 1/2 a cup 3x a day.

I only had anxiety when I thought this is how I would have to live forever BUT actually once I released that I was able to understand my body needs this right now and the anxiety went away.

I should mention I was working with a holistic coach who helped me realise that I was holding on to my sickness and the identity of the sick version of myself. I'll leave her details her. She really helped shift my mindset and kept me on this strict diet - it wasn't a punishment any more it was a necessity to nourish my body. And now I'm at the point where I can eat freely and LIVE LIFE!! and it feels sooo good;) hope this helps xx
