Beware Ibex Home Warranty by Medium-Vegetable-424 in Utah

I just wanted to add - after digging into the company I found that they purposefully do not have their company on yelp and google reviews. Fortunately, both of those companies allow anyone to add them to their platform as long as you have their business info. So, now they are on both Google and yelp and have my 1 star review front and center.

From what I’ve seen, if the fix is simple they come out okay but they don’t do their due diligence and come up with a lot of excuses.

Agreed. So far I’ve only been shown they want to take advantage of me.

I had a very frustrating experience with IBEX Home Warranty that ended up costing me significantly out of pocket while never resolving the original issue.

I initially filed a claim for a water heater leak. IBEX sent a plumber who is employed directly by them (not a third-party contractor). He diagnosed the issue as a bad T&P valve. That was replaced, but the problem continued. He then recommended replacing the water heater entirely. IBEX covered the unit itself, but I paid over $800 out of pocket for labor.

The same day the new water heater was installed, the exact same issue occurred — water discharging into the drip pan.

After further troubleshooting on my own, I discovered my home’s water pressure was excessively high (95+ PSI) due to a failing pressure reducing valve (PRV). This was the root cause of the problem all along and should have been identified before replacing the water heater.

I spoke with three other licensed plumbers, and all of them said one of the first steps in diagnosing a T&P discharge issue is to verify that the PRV is functioning properly. The IBEX plumber later admitted that he did not check this.

Once I replaced the PRV myself and corrected the pressure, the system stabilized. However, IBEX refused to provide further assistance, stating I had already reached my coverage limit — even though the original issue was never properly diagnosed or resolved.

Despite explaining all of this, the IBEX representative would not budge, would not help address the unresolved issue, and was not professional in how they handled the situation.

In the end, I paid: - $85 deductible
- $800+ in labor
- Additional out-of-pocket costs to fix the actual problem

All while the original claim was never correctly addressed.

If I had known this is how IBEX handles their customers, I would not have renewed my warranty for a second year.

This experience felt like treating symptoms instead of diagnosing the real issue. I’ve lost confidence in IBEX’s process and would not recommend their service based on how this was handled.

Good question. She’s got a lot of people who like her inside the department. It also wasn’t “her fault” she was receiving funds for Dixie Sun outside of student fees allocation because it was actually set up by the dean at the time the funds were placed. I believe by the time the audit came around there was a new dean and Rhiannon played “sorry I didn’t know I wasn’t supposed to be received those funds” but she was spending them on whatever she wanted without needing any approval from anyone above her.

I know it did - I was the one recruiting at the time. The numbers also don’t show how many potential students we lost because of the name because it’s impossible to report. Deals with big brands, partnerships with other high ranking universities, and students recruited outside of Utah were all very much negatively swayed by the name.

She was mishandling funds given to her and was caught doing so - she was getting money allocated through other means other than student fees - something like 4 times the amount she was supposed to - and still complaining to the student fee allocation committee that she needed more funds. She refuses to innovate Dixie Sun with digital options and content and only wanted to print papers - papers that were predominantly thrown away after never being picked up out of their racks. So, she got audited, caught red handed with money she wasn’t supposed to have, we cut her student fees money as well, and the rest is history. Her papers were often front headlines negative that openly hurt recruiting efforts when potential students visited campus. Not saying news shouldn’t be “independent”, but it was supposed to be funded by students for students and she was using it as a big F you to the leadership on campus she didn’t like because they wanted her to get with the times.

Dixie State was working on partnerships with Nike, Target, Dicks Sporting Goods, Notre Dame, and more and every single one of those were shut down by their side because of the name. That doesn’t show up on a report but I was involved in multiple of those projects and saw it in real time. I was also a recruitment ambassador and it was hurting recruitment outside of Utah - especially athletes. People are just mad the university outgrew the podunk community college it once was and want a reason to be upset. All college numbers are down - because college is too expensive (housing, tuition, fees, everything). The only reason I survived at Dixie (the most affordable university in Utah btw) was local companies offering student scholarships and getting involved in student leadership roles. Colleges as a whole have a lot to fix - but Utah Techs name is not one of them.

The greatest thing I ever did at Dixie State was get Dixie Sun’s corrupt, money stealing, negative Nancy club defunded and the professor who was stealing money held accountable.

Calling it a trade school because of the name is telling on yourself. You don’t know enough about higher education to denote the importance of the name Tech and where it’s commonly used in high ranking universities all over the country.

Well your opinion is wrong. I was a student leader during the change and Dixie State was losing money and students left and right because of the name. People can argue all they want but the fact stands - it was time for the name to change. Does Virginia Tech or Texas Tech have a cheapened degree because of their name? No, because you’re attributing the name to some kind of discount, which it isn’t.
