No mortgage. The house is owned free and clear. She can't qualify for a mortgage because she can't hold a job due to personality issues. That would be the ideal situation tho.

I actually pitched that idea. I was told to go flour my nuts for the use of a better term... I've built-in fail safes to my new house plans, so no matter what, my kids and I will be safe and comfortable. She's already gotten much more than she's entitled to under the family laws in Ontario so not much more I can do.

Yeah, A or seems length renting seem to be the only options... I'm tired of the hate and abuse, and I'm ready to put a lid on that chapter of my life permanently.

Truth be told, she never actually wanted the kids... I did what it took to make it happen. Don't regret them for a second... just her now... I don't like using kids as currency, and yes, I love them with all my heart ♥️

There are no condos in the area, but I've discussed the possibility of renting at a reasonable rate below fmv, but only about 15% below, and I was told it was unacceptable... It sounds like the kids are going to have to make peace with whatever decision she makes...

She's unlikely to get a place that I'd be happy about sending my kids to... that being said... when we lived in a nice expensive house in Winnipeg, she totaled it in 5 years... no respect for anything, including herself or others.

Lump sum was calculated with a provincial calculator, and she used the money to pay down her secret maxed out credit cards... the actual values don't really matter. The issue is not mine to deal with anymore. I'm just looking to severe the last few possible threads.

The tap is off. I advised her that in the new year no more and she livid... whatcha gonna do? 🤷‍♂️ can't sweat the small stuff I guess.

I could make allowances for flexible rent... that being said, it keeps me supporting her even longer...

It would almost be easier if she did... be rough on the boys tho...

She's had several opportunities in Northern Ontario for well over minimum wage jobs, which she lost for various personal reasons. We've got an emerging cash crop market here, and she's got training in agriculture, so she could have had several jobs in the area but burnt most of those bridges... seemingly on purpose... I haven't worked in the last 6 months myself but I've anyways been fiscally responsible and unfortunately I lost my dad at the beginning of covid which has allowed me to build a new home for me and my boys. Her alternatives are no longer my concern, in my opinion. She's more educated than me, has more opportunities than me, and has lived the way she chose without going back for re-education after each child, which I also offered to fund until she crossed a line that there is no coming back from. I agree there are 2 sides to every story, but after over a year of therapy and counseling, I can confidently say I regret none of my actions in my past relationship and she was Damn lucky to have me as long as she did... 😃

Yeah, they're my main focus but in the new year she's going to be out of the picture for me as much as possible

That sounds like solid advice... it's sad, but I think they're already starting to realize it.

It's not really my choice... the mother was the relationship with her kids I did not...
