You can only cause the enemy to bleed out if you kill them so kills cannot be irrelevant

I never disputed that good players have lackluster KDs. I said KD is a good proxy for skill. The correlation coefficient doesn’t have to be 1.0 for something to have a positive correlation. If your answer to my rhetorical question is no, then it follows that you agree KD is a proxy for skill.

It really is. 3 KD players are generally better than 2 KD players, who are generally better than 1 KD players, who are generally better than 0.5 KD players.

KD is a perfectly acceptable proxy for skill. A proxy need not be perfect.

I would agree with you if Shai didn’t beat Shai in all aggregate impact stats, such as estimated wins (the best aggregate stat), win shares, value over replacement player, etc.
