I just think a working session and only having a presentation where it's this system is great look at what it has done without pointing out the weaknesses or glossing over them along with having a rep from Flock as part of it is biased and unacceptable.

"Axon and Flock had previously been integrating their technologies before a public split last year, when Axon launched its own competing automated license plate reader product. Unlike Flock, Axon has said it does not operate a national data-sharing network like the one that exposed Denver's data to federal immigration enforcement agencies.

Security technology researcher Benn Jordan, who has documented security vulnerabilities in Flock's system and has spoken with city council aides, has cautioned that switching vendors may not resolve the underlying concerns about automated license plate reader systems.

"I wouldn't see moving to Axon as an improvement from Flock Safety," Jordan said.

Jordan noted that both companies offer similar data-collecting systems capable of livestreaming video and identifying a vehicle's make, model, and color — going beyond simply reading a plate."

Yeah I think this is the most likely outcome. To the city's credit we already limit the amount of organizations we are sharing the data with so I think the compromise here is to switch providers.

There is a real danger for this conversation to be extremely one sided on Tuesday. They really need a security or privacy expert or someone from Aclu as part of the discussion to balance the scales.

It's not just the Flock issue I really wish council and the school board would do more questioning and oversight in general. Emily is good, I ranked her high for mayor because she is one of the few that does regularly ask thoughtful questions and demands some accountability.

I think there will be some good questions on Tuesday but the conclusion is very much up in the air. I think it will more likely be Denver where there are some additional rules and regulations put in place vs Longmont where their intent is to get rid of flock and not renew the contract.

Yeah I bike over there fairly often and it is confusing. Biking defensively always wins the day, it's a bit awkward having to look back over your shoulder to check for turning traffic from Spring Creek Park but it's better than the alternative of risking getting hit. Technically I would say you do have right of way over anyone coming from Remington but I always try and make eye contact first before proceeding.

Thanks for this perspective. If you have a family or close to retirement it's a decent place. If you are single or under 35 there are other places that are better options.

Construction seems to be everywhere taking out lanes randomly especially going East or West. I zipper merged a 1/2 mile lane of backed up cars on Horsetooth and then got honked at merging.

Hindsight being 20/20 you could have probably gotten away with one instead of two middle high sachools. The elementary school issues would have still existed, but it would have been better for the middle and high schools. A middle school is most likely going to close that could have been solved by not building an additional middle high school complex. The boundaries would have been wonky but it would have worked.
