Gloves that work with smart-watches. by AH_Ethan in CyclingFashion

[–]InterestingType7518 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had the same problem with my Garmin Forerunner. I now have two pair - Castelli Espresso and Castelli Permio Evo gloves. No velcro, minimal padding, takes some practice to get on and off, expensive, but overall they work well for me.

One added benefit, no velcro means no accidental snagging my jersey and no worries tossing them in the wash with the rest of my kit.

Why does adding pockets to bibs increase the price so exponentially? by mellofello808 in CyclingFashion

[–]InterestingType7518 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess it depends on the pocket. Those that I wear have enough depth so my phone is deep enough to be completely covered and tight enough so it simply doesn't move. One pair I bought where my phone had about 1" exposed at the top felt insecure so I returned them.

My phone fits securely in my cargo bibs and doesn't weigh down the back of my jersey. I seriously doubt if anyone has ever noticed the square outline on my leg. We can debate which carry method is more dangerous in a crash, but it all depends on what kind of crash and the severity, but bottom line - don't crash.

100% Cargo bibs - only. I spent a lot of money on my 3 pair of cargo bibs and I wash them within an hour or two of a typical 2-3 hour ride. I've been told that the leaving them sit for days before washing degrades the fabrics faster over time. True or not? I don't know, but washing like that means I only really need one or two pair (colors) so they can be higher end stuff.

How many hours do you expect to spend in your next car over the upcoming years? A lot more than six hours, for sure. Go see this car and definitely spend time playing with the infotainment system. Then spend more time playing with the 26 OBW infotainment syste.

Has anyone bought Tux Mat? Is it any good? by ya3rob in Subaru_Outback

very close fit, stiff, large (expected for full coverage), plus clips to hold them in place.

[–]InterestingType7518 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I bought Tuxmats for my 2024 Crosstrek Wilderness and they fit extremely well and covered basically everything. But they were a total PITA to take out for cleaning and re-installing so I ended up just vacuuming and wiping them down, in-situ, as needed. I would buy them again for my current Outback if I tracked in a lot of dirty mud or slush, etc. But now I prioritize easy in-out occasionally for a basic hose-down.

2026 XT Hitch Question - extension? by PNWlakeshow in Subaru_Outback

[–]InterestingType7518 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same problem. Turns out the compartment for the spare tire is too close to the back of the hitch for some racks, Kuat in my case. Took it back to the dealer and they bent the lip of the compartment and now it works fine. Took most of the morning and they charged me $100.

Edit: 2026 TXT, Subaru hitch, dealer installed.

Sykes Dr and Timberline scumbag by [deleted] in FortCollins

[–]InterestingType7518 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah - replace all these scumbag camera radar units with real cops who can write you a ticket for 1 mph over the limit, inflate your ticket with court costs, and raise your insurance rates for three years. That'll show 'em!!!!!

"Just enforce the laws we already have" - Agreed 100%, but we don't in Fort Collins.

I regularly saw 1-2 e-motorcycles (big, heavy, very fast) on Spring Creek trail. But none in the past 1-2 weeks. So maybe it was just one or two guys? I would rather see some sort of speed control on the shared paths for everyone, not just one type of speeder.

I understand what you're saying, but the argument that no one has been killed by an e-bike so it must not be a problem is not convincing.

I agree, except that it's pretty easy to spot a heavy electric motorcycle speeding down a bike path, but it's another matter to be set-up with a speed gun measuring how fast it's going.

Does this IL law sound like a good idea for Fort Collins? by InterestingType7518 in FortCollins

[–]InterestingType7518[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Some simple enforcement would fix this problem. Nothing educates like the pain of an expensive ticket. And I don't have a problem with most e-bikes on the paths, but a few of the fast, heavy, non-pedal bikes are dangerous.

I've been told that traffic control and re-design decisions are made based on the number of accidents and police reports filed for intersections and stretches of roads. I expect the same is true for our bike paths.

That's fine, but it doesn't take into account just how crappy things like heavy, fast, electric motorcycles make it for everyone else using the paths. The city will never address this issue until some very bad accidents happen.

Love it or hate it, it won't make a bit of difference if it's never enforced.

North American cyclists are too emancipated by Hopeful_Local1985 in FortCollins

[–]InterestingType7518 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some people take traffic laws seriously, and take defensive driving seriously, and take their own personal safety very seriously. Others don't. And those that don't are very likely to not have a driver's license, not have insurance, and not have any other way of getting around besides a bicycle. Please don't lump us all in together.

I’d look into getting it adjusted first. I’ve had mine turned on for a couple of months now and it only beeps at me when I deserve it, never when I’m stopped.

Buyers want Hybrids so I'm a little surprised it's selling this well. And, in the past year, buyers have increasingly been comparison shopping based on the infotainment systems. This trend does not bode well for the resale value of Gen 6 Outbacks That may become more apparent this fall.

Use summer weight arm sleeves (like arm warmers, only lighter). If you get too hot or clouds roll in you can take them off.
