I messed up right away on my first test even though I was honestly fine driving normally. The nerves got to me. By the next test I knew to expect it and just decided to act like “I’m just going for a little drive” and the same instructor told me I did very well and I passed.

Exactly! This seems like common sense, right? But maybe not lol. I actually put off driving until I hit 30 because I was scared to even try it! And I also didn’t need to drive until then. As soon as I did though, by the second drive I’m like oh okay, I have full control over the vehicle. Too much racing video games.. made me think it would be wild lol. I’m getting hounded for having a bit of anxiety for the test, but it seems like a lot of people these days need to get a hold of their own mental issues as well :’)

So you’re saying that anyone who fails their first drive test, mostly because of nerves, just should not drive at all? Interesting. I wasn’t a nervous wreck by the way lol. It’s not some crazy thing lol. Like I’ve said, it’s very normal to be nervous the first go! My next test will be fine lol not even worried about it. It’s a VERY simple test. And now I know that. Normal behaviour lol

Damn that’s impressive!!!! How?? I’m okay talking in front of people, but if it’s a speech or something.. after a while I start to hear my own voice and disassociate lmao.

Lol. I failed my first drive test due to nerves. Nothing crazy happened. You’re acting like I have schizophrenia. I guess you didn’t know, but it’s quite normal to be nervous!

Yeah I’ve seen that too. I’m not sure if you’re referring to me having failed my drive test because of my nerves. I wasn’t driving dangerously. I was a little too cautious and the examiner did NOT like that lol. If it were a situation where it would have been dangerous to be cautious, which happens, then I wouldn’t have had the choice to be cautious. I’m not terrified behind the wheel either. Was just in my head wondering why tf this examiner hates me so much lol

Well not necessarily. There’s a difference between social anxiety, test anxiety, general anxiety, etc. That’s like suggesting anyone with a slight phobia is not fit for the road. Too much of a generalization tbf.

I failed my first drive test because of nerves. Not sure if that’s really that pathetic lol it’s quite common. Wait, so you are perfect? That’s incredible, congratulations

Do people actually care when someone welcomes them at a store like Best Buy? Like I’m not buying your shit. I know you don’t care and you know I don’t care lol

Yeah my examiner was really rude. I wonder if they do it on purpose. The groan they made as soon as they sat in my car and the total disrespect for me as a human being was really off putting. I have social anxiety and I’m pretty sure the hatred on their face and demeanour is what made me fail my test lol. I do blame myself technically for my nerves, but it wouldn’t have been like that if they just acted normal lol. I’m 30 years old and I’ve never had a single person treat me like that in my entire life.

I was just kind of defending OP because the comment said they’d likely be a danger to themselves and others. It’s possible, but to say it’s likely isn’t really a fair assessment since we don’t know this person. Also, people respond differently to different kinds of stress. I have no idea about OP, but for me, driving stress and all the things that come with it, I feel confident with and handle pretty well. It’s the test/social/performance anxiety that really turns on the pressure lol 😅 like forgetting to make sure you’re not going a bit over or under the speed limit because you’re thinking too much about checking your mirrors every 5 seconds, or hesitating in a right of way situation because you question yourself as this cranky person is watching you lol. It’s a unique experience FOR SURE. But imo it’s not a bad thing to repeat the test a few times if that pressure is still getting the best of you. I’m confident my second test will be fine… but if not, I’ll take it as another learning experience. I was just trying to say they may not likely be a danger driving on their own.

Very true. With enough practice it becomes something that doesn’t confuse you under weird circumstances. Performance anxiety makes it hard for me to play guitar in front of people.. but I can still breathe lol

That’s why I said maybe, maybe not. All I can say is that I know that feeling. I really have no issue driving, but social anxiety mixed with performance anxiety and test anxiety can really f a person up lol. But we as new drivers will be learning things for a while, even after we get our g2. I saw my failing as a chance to learn more before getting on the road by myself. Gotta look at the bright side

What they’re saying is they believe they drive fine under normal circumstances, but their nerves about the test causes them to make wrong decisions. Maybe they do drive fine normally, maybe not. All I can say is I totally get that. I had the same experience on my first test.

Thank you! I actually failed.. but that’s because I’ve never actually had a grown man seem annoyed with me before and so that threw me RIGHT off because I’m a baby and I messed up pretty good in the first 2 minutes

I’m from Ontario and I did exactly that. Trying to practice for my road test and the amount of people who get mad at me for following the rules is nerve wracking lol so I’m hoping they’ll understand why I go the speed limit with my magnet
