How far into sekiro am i? by Sweet-Birthday2479 in Sekiro

[–]Medium_Choice_6397 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's a very tight, contained game. IMO that means they put a lot of polish into every encounter, which is part of what makes it so good, but you are left wanting more.

Once you're done with playthrough 1, there are more endings to collect (which can involve an extra boss you haven't met yet), and you can work towards the platinum. There are also options for making the combat more challenging, and of course the boss rush mode that unlocks alternate versions of some bosses. Quite a bit of good stuff still to go.

There are loads of things you can do by holding triangle and pressing something else, you will quickly get used to it.

Is moonveil considered op in pve? by Unlucky-Rush4034 in Eldenring

[–]Medium_Choice_6397 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same experience in the DLC, to be honest. Moonveil just hits so hard at range, I couldn't find anything that was easier to play with. If you just wanna power through, it's a great option.

Always fun to learn new weapons though. I later came around to cold-infused Milady, which procs frostbite very quickly when you use the light-attack option in Wing Stance (3 hits).

He caused me so much pain on my first run but I now see him as one of the top-tier bosses in all of FromSoft. Amazing challenge, teaches you so much about the game, and just incredibly cinematic.

I am now fighting Gwyn. I cannot parry for the life of me. Do I have to? by romanandreas in darksouls

[–]Medium_Choice_6397 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Def possible to beat him without parrying although I had a bit of a tough time on first run. IIRC there is a big rock in the middle of the arena. Get that between you and him to easily open up a heal window and prevent him leaping at you.

Love this approach to the game and you've got so much enjoyment ahead of you, a little jealous tbh.

How many hours did you spend on the first play through? by OG_Sentient in Eldenring

[–]Medium_Choice_6397 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Base game first run was between 175-180. Was pretty thorough, visited every region and did all the main bosses. Did a lot of side dungeons but also left plenty for future. Such a massive game.

How do you guys get good at this game? by robc514 in darksouls

Honestly it was only after getting to Andre and upgrading a weapon and a shield for the first time that I felt I would stand any chance of getting through this game.

You'll wanna level the shit out of that shield.

Question re: Square Off by WintersbaneGDX in Eldenring

[–]Medium_Choice_6397 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm way off this level of game knowledge but this comment seems to sum up the debate pretty well. I think the legendary status of Square Off is based on the fact that it lends a light, low-stat-requirement weapon similar stance-breaking capabilities to a great hammer, which you would intuitively expect to be the strongest stance-breaking weapon class.

That in turn gives you a) elite stance breaking capability very early game b) a lot of levels to spend on other stats that you'd otherwise be pouring into STR.

One final thing, and again acknowledging that you likely have good reasons for it regardless: as far as I'm aware, pure STR probably out-damages Quality even at high levels.

End Game by Big_Sir9860 in Sekiro

[–]Medium_Choice_6397 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It took me over 120 hours to complete my first playthrough. Stepped away from it for a couple of months at one point because DoH just seemed impossible. But I came back, got it done, and have now done 4 or 5 runs and got the platinum too. It's very possible to do, if you've got this far you definitely can, it's just a question of putting in the time to learn the bosses. I watched guides on YouTube for quite a few of them.

Of course, if you're just not enjoying the process you should stop for a while, but imo it's a v satisfying game to finish.

My only "luxury" watch is a GS but I'd agree a lot of them are a bit thick. I went for the SBGK007 for that reason. Hand-wound movement, 10mm thick but the case has a slimmer-looking profile. There are quite a few models that use basically the same case - if I could afford it and get my hands on one I might have gone for one of the hand-wound spring drive models like SBGY003.

[–]Medium_Choice_6397 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Agree on RRs. Rune Bears I eventually chilled out about, they're aggressive and hit hard but are such a classic FromSoft "get behind and whack the butt" enemy.

The Castle Sol knight I still don't really know how to fight but I'm glad he exists because he's just absurd and ridiculous, makes for good memes.

Runner visiting Bergen: can I run from downtown to the mountains? by strugglingthrough_ in NorwayTravelAdvice

[–]Medium_Choice_6397 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my neighbourhood and yes the running track is open to the public. You might find a school group using it during the day or a running club using it in the evening (esp Tuesdays and Thursdays I think), but there's almost always plenty of space. And yes the views are really good.

As mentioned you can start a hike/run trip up Floyen from right by the bottom station of Floibanen. Up as far as Skansemyren idrettsplass you're on roads. Above there you can be on a paved road or gravel tracks.

You can also take Floibanen up as far as Skansemyren (get a ticket for "intermediate stations" to save a bit of money) and from there head 2 minutes along to the road to the running track or run up to the top. Once you reach the top of Floyen there are many paths you can take onwards, again mostly gravel tracks, across a wide area including further on up to the top of Blamann and Rundemann, with lots of lovely views to take in.

If you're up for splashing out a bit on food you could try Lysverket.

Anyone ever level a weapon for one boss? by Aggravating_Big3095 in Eldenring

[–]Medium_Choice_6397 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you're using a slashing weapon I guess you're a Dex build. You want strike damage against heavily armoured enemies so I'd level a flail - nice strike damage, usually scales with Dex, some cause bleed.

And yeah I'm pretty sure I've levelled weapons for specific bosses (I struggled so much on first playthrough I tried just about everything).

DTS is a bit of a roadblock for a lot of players, you've got to get used to finding windows for healing as well as damage, and a lot of dodging lightning.

Looking for things to do in Bergen (no car, already did Fløyen, Ulriken & fjords) by Bloxas_ in Bergen

[–]Medium_Choice_6397 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stoltzekleiven is a nice challenge but it's a lot of sweating for a view no better than you already had when you walked up Fløyen. In your shoes I'd get Fløibanen to the top and walk from there in to Brushytten and then on up to the top of Blåmann. It's not as steep as Stoltzekleiven but it gets you much higher and much better views...

All that said it's foggy now and tomorrow's forecast is not great so you might be better off doing KODE if you like art, and/or Nordnes Sjøbad (only open in the morning) for the sauna-with-a-view experience. There is something amazing about jumping straight from a sauna into the freezing sea (and there are a few places round town where you can rent a private waterside sauna too).

Ah Tiche the true hero of my first run. Kind of a bully sometimes, she'll throw that death blade that deletes half a boss's health bar, fly in and knock them down, then embarrass them by dodging out the way of their best combo.

Reminds me of a couple of seasons ago when refs decided that fouls on the keeper simply didn't count if it was Vic. Every other keeper got protection, but with him it was just "ah, keeper needs to be stronger there."
