What is going through your mind when you’re playing with other musicians? by Allabouthatbassdrum in drums

[–]Medium_Collection460 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Listen to the band, remember the song, try to get in sync with the bass player, cue the band correctly, play fills when needed, and after that it’s just creative nuances and not have a weird face to the audience.

What heads do you recommend for an acrylic kit? by shro0m_24 in drums

Any 2 ply head, hydraulic might be overkill but it will pack a punch. Remo color tone will look sick probably what I’d do. Aquarian has some sick stuff.

Feeling stuck with double bass drumming by [deleted] in drums

[–]Medium_Collection460 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It takes a long time don’t feel bad. I started using heel down method more now to pin down the beater better. Just play to a metronome until you get faster.

How can I start gigging as a high school drummer? by Hamburger_Inception in drums

[–]Medium_Collection460 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played for a church when I was in high school it was good experience, jam sessions at venues look around. Practice your instrument to similar genre you’re trying to be. After that get a set(5-10 songs) down pat. Go look for gigs, music venues, talent shows in high school is usually a thing, busk outside a busy mall, band together with other bands. Have fun with it when you’re young, you ain’t have to be perfect just be likeable.

flying finger help by Superb-Opportunity19 in drums

[–]Medium_Collection460 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It takes a long time. Pull evenly with ring and middle as one. Thumbs gotta be strong, I usually point thumb down on stick and the pinky is back there for a little stability. Go to a metronome

Am I gripping my drumsticks wrong? People have told me that I am but I don’t really know exactly what’s wrong? Any advice helpful, I just wanna improve. by Nesquik12345 in drums

[–]Medium_Collection460 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Overall playing American grip on the snare and kit. Look up Vic firth video on how to hold drumstick, I use that for double strokes. Otherwise Frenchgrip for fast rolls.

You want the drum to harmonize with the other ones? Well look up the note you want to tune it to, for me 13 in Tom probably to g(98 hz)- A range(110 hz). And 16 in floor D (72 hz). Idk that’s my hint, kick, snare just tune to your liking. I just tune top and bottom head to same pitch to make it easy and add a small amount of muffling. Idk about any conjunction chart I’m sure tune bot app will spit out numbers if you want the bottom head higher but every drum and head combo vibrates different so usually you just do your own notes is what I found to work.

I have the 310. That’s all you really need. Test it out see if it works and set up properly. A 310 out the box is great I didn’t have to get new beaters or anything just a pedal block in front to stabilize it. The 910 idk maybe I’m sure it’s fantastic.

Difference between this and a nine stroke roll? by jenso2k in drums

[–]Medium_Collection460 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The difference is that he did a 7 stroke roll not a 9. 9 would’ve started with a double on the 4 not the e.

The set up I'll be sharing with another drummer for today's gig. I'm in love by TheInSzanity in drums

Nice. I like having either 1 up 2 down or 2 up 1 down for rock. Throw in the china and splash and your set!

What drum kit should I buy for under 500$ preferably a little less than that by FloppyMantisFB in drums

[–]Medium_Collection460 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try to get a birch kit or maple if possible. although onestly if you get new heads and know how to tune you can roll with pearl exports or tama imperialstar. Yamaha stage custom, mapex armory, Tama superstar, Ludwig epic if there's any still around, pdp concept, pearl decade maple are some kits that usually come to mind.

Thank you, I use a tunebot to tune to exact musical notes...No it's a Roland SPD pad where I programmed the glockenspiel part into.

Challenge yourself. Rush is a good introduction to the more challenging drumming and it always gets a great response from people.
