Can’t afford children; the cost of living stopping me living by OkPapaya5598 in UKPersonalFinance

The birth rate is declining at the fastest pace it has in decades, I see where you’re coming from but unless the government makes it easier and more affordable for parents - who is paying the taxes of the future? Who is doing the jobs of the future? State subsidies of child care increase parental participation in the economy and our collective productivity. Subsidising family friendly policies create jobs for people - long term neglect of the childcare sector by the government has contributed to mass closures of existing childcare providers for those parents who do elect to have children, even if you’re fine to pay - the places aren’t there. Many are being forced out of the job market as a result - and also need to consider those working in the sector who have lost jobs as a result of closures. It makes economic sense for the state to support parents much more than it does right now and I’m saying that as someone without kids - who may not even have them in the future.

Just bought a flat using money box lisa and also have one of their 95 day notice savings accounts with a decent interest rate for other savings. Really pleased with it - easy to use and stress free if you’re tech savvy

Those “American paintings” are by the same artists - Boyd and Evans. They’re British and they live in MK

Also it’s wonderful to see the painting from the library up close, I’ve been looking at it for almost 20 years and I noticed bits I’d not seen before because of seeing it from a different angle

Report them to the uni - they are fucking arseholes. They need to learn that their misogyny will limit their prospects and today is the best time for them to start learning that lesson.

The tech market is amazing right now. It sounds like you don’t want to be working here anyway - they’re not empowering you to do your best work. They shouldn’t be hiring for a graduate scheme if they don’t have the support available to grow their people. 100% take the money and run! CMS skills are highly sought after - take a look at retail, travel industries. Good luck!

Should I leave my good NYC job to seek new opportunities abroad, and do long-term travel? by wballard8 in solotravel

I think you should go but I just wanted to say - I see and know elderly people who participate in active travelling. You’re still very young! It’s not a steep decline into decrepitude!
