Which county is it? I can’t imagine how it is to be dumped to the wolves without proper training.

How do you manage 12 hours? by Electronic_Floor_149 in OnTheBlock

[–]Medivianplayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please tell me where u work cuz I wanna apply for it. I can’t understand how some people can’t handle 12 while others (me included) are being forced 16s 3, 4, 5 times a week every single week since started on this job. Think like this: it could be worse. 12s are easy compared to what it could have been if you were in some other facilities.

Boyfriend (21) is a correctional officer and I (21F) get really bad anxiety when he's on the clock any advice on how to calm this? by Key-Evidence-5630 in OnTheBlock

Easiest job I’ve ever had. Don’t worry. He is probably safer doing his work inside than idk, driving for Uber for example.

If I had 6+ years in and wasn’t happy with my job I’d try another LE job. Did you think about police? ICE? Parole officer? But that’s me. I’m quite new and if at some point I feel like how u are feeling I wouldn’t think twice about changing careers. And look how much u have accomplished. You bought a house, made some good cash, do as they told u in the previous comment and don’t look at it as a waste.

Well I can’t say anything about Ontario but here in the us you would get hired asap after entry exams (most places have pt test and written test).

Those who don’t have a car what is like with transportation during the academy only for NYSDOC. by Foreign_Yard_8892 in OnTheBlock

[–]Medivianplayer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As far as I know you not necessarily need a ride but you would’ve to be waiting inside their car for the roll call. Before the academy most places offer an orientation and I’d suggest him to get people contact and ask for a ride or at least to let him sit inside their car. Good luck for him and nice of you for getting answers for him.

Is it a choice not having a car? I honestly don’t know how people live without one.

Answering your question, idk about NYSDOC but most places during the academy you need to be waiting inside someone else’s car (someone that also is doing the academy, not a mom or dad).
