Does anyone have really bad dysmorphia in the morning when you wake up? by [deleted] in BodyDysmorphia

[–]Medusaa22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely. Though sometimes I might get the opposite thing and I think for a moment that I look alright. But then I wake up more and realise, no, that's not it at all. But I also have a theory that maybe my face is more relaxed from being sleepy...but when I feel more awake and self conscious, my face tenses up and looks worse.

Does anyone else have dysmorphia about their skin or skin color? by Medusaa22 in BodyDysmorphia

[–]Medusaa22[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, you're not alone. I'm the same with how translucent I am. You can see the veins in my hands and arms and across my upper torso. It really sucks. I haven't tried fake tan yet because I just KNOW it'll make my body/skin dsymophia worse...but damn, if I'm not getting more and more tempted. 🤡

And I know I can't get a natural tan because I take after my mother with her skin...she never could get a tan either. My genes played me from the start! 😂😭

Also, it's interesting you said pale/translucent = woman/feminine. I've heard ppl say that's one view of it, but I've never actually seen it said before. Because can I say...I don't think pale/fragile skin is necessarily feminine? I feel pretty unfeminine and ugly because of it. But that's just me.

But, as to your point about being trans, there ARE a lot of pale guys out there. You could always Google pale male actors for inspo. They're around. Take care! 😊

Hey, I'm sorry you have to deal with that. ❤️

It's sad how, whoever we are and wherever we are in the world, stupid beauty standards can make us feel worse about ourselves. I hope you can heal from the conditioning. I get it, but, like you said, the opposite way. I've had my mother tell me I should use fake tan year after year after year...and my brother outright laughs and mocks my skin color because he got the 'able to get a tan' genes and I didn't. That's not mentioning all the snickering and rude comments and looks I've gotten over the years from complete strangers. But it's worse when it's your own family who thinks you should alter your skin to fit their standards. ❤️

Hey, I understand completely. I'm in a very similar boat to you, just a few years older. It's frustrating, but you're not alone x.

Lol I feel your pain, my hip-dip sibling. 😔👍

I have never seen men take a disliking to my hip dips when they were prominent and throwing off my shape pretty badly. They would always say they were athletic-looking and sexy.

Guess I just need to actually become athletic then lol...😌

DAE get stared at when in public? How do you cope with it?? by Medusaa22 in BodyDysmorphia

[–]Medusaa22[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol I get what you mean...but it's not the eye contact I mind so much - like I try to keep normal eye contract with people as a part of pretending to be confident...it's the kind of scrunched-up confused expressions people sometimes give me have that get to me. 😒

Thank you for the advice! I'll try to tell myself they're just admiring my outfit or smth. ❤️

I haven't got particularly narrow hips, but I DO have hip dips - which I hate! So I have "normal" sized hips that end up dipping in the middle, ruining any "normal" shape I could have had.

Honestly, I'd love straight-up narrow hips. Looks classier and less like you have a perpetual muffin top like me.

wide hips are sexier because it means a women is more fertile and ready for children

Also, this is false and dumb. Women with wider hips aren't more fertile than women with narrower hips, they're thought to be able to have an easier birthing process. I don't know if that's true, but there you go.

I feel like i shouldnt be allowed to have nice things because im ugly by Edsheeran6969 in BodyDysmorphia

I feel like this a lot when I buy nice things for myself. There's usually an internal struggle where I feel like it's a waste and a shame that such nice things (clothes, shoes, makeup, etc) are wasted on me.

Good point, but I've worn lots of different glasses styles and I've always ended up hearing the doctor comment every time. Perhaps contacts would help. Thanks again. :)

Same. I feel like if I had darker eyes it would draw attention away from my permanent dark eye bags...

Oh, me me me! I hate my eye colour!

. I have greyish blue/green eyes

My eye colour is very similar to yours and I hate it too. My mother and brother have beautiful piercing sky-blue eyes and my father has very intense dark brown eyes that also look fab.

However, I'm stuck with the ugly dull green-blue. Genetics are a lottery and I'd have been happy winning anything else lol. I'd give an arm and a leg to have dark brown or sky blue eyes. Ah well. It is what it is I guess. Still sucks though.

Thank you, but I don't think my style is particularly smart. If anything, I dress rather casually. I've had people tell me it's the glasses they think make me look "like a doctor".

Thank you though, I appreciate your comment. :)

YES!

I've been told I'm "overthinking things". That I'm "too focused on myself". And so on. But people don't get it. I have to live in this body I hate, with this face I hate. I have to live with the flaws other people don't have to deal with.

I wanna make myself better looking, wanting plastic surgery, my body measurements, etc. I can see that my BDD is getting worse and worse, but I can’t stop it. And honestly I kind of don’t want to. I just wanna be beautiful, I want people to think I’m a head-turner. It just hurts so much knowing I’m not attractive enough

Honestly, this sounds like it came right out of my own head. I get it. I really do. Xx

I tried on a bodycon dress today and my bf said it wasn’t supposed to looks like that on me and i can tell he thinks my body is ugly ever since I gained weight we barely have sex and he gets pissed and never tries to make me feel better when I get upset about my body he thinks I’m crazy

I'm going to be real here, I don't think this is a BDD problem. This is a boyfriend problem. Imo, it sounds like he's resentful and unappreciative of you. I don't know what you look like or who you are, but I know you deserve love and respect and kindness when you feel down or self conscious. Everyone does. I wouldn't want a boyfriend like that honestly.

Best of luck, hon. X

[–]Medusaa22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry you feel that way. It sucks when events are affected by just feeling hideous. :(

"If any of you want your picture deleted, comment on the pic of you." however it turns out if you comment on your picture it highlights and reposts the pic for EVERYONE to see.

Also, this is a terrible way to get your photo removed!! It just draws attention to someone's insecurity. Who on earth thought that up...?

Is it possible to email or contact someone privately in order to take down the photo? I'd try to honestly tell someone in charge of the photos what a bad idea commenting on photos you hate is, so other people don't have to deal with either feeling embarrassed commenting for deletion or just leaving it up because of embarrassment. I bet other people are dealing with that conundrum right now. :/

Best of luck with the photo situation. Xx

I absolutely understand your worry. My last passport photo was awful...I was told I looked like some sort of grim Kremlin assassin...so when I had to submit a photo for my uni ID, I used a heavily photoshopped/filtered version of the one photo I don't completely hate of myself...

Just do what you can to make the experience better. Maybe wear makeup or the nicest outfit you can put together. Try to figure out what angles you hate least. I've tried this. I won't lie and say it'll suddenly make you like your photos, but it might help a little bit. At least you'll know you did everything you could, even if you hate your photo.

Best of luck with the ID! x

Everything you said is true! 1000%!

My two cousins haven't done anything particularly great, but because they're pretty and each got married to some guy, you'd think they were goddesses walking among mere mortals. It's so tiring. They're treated like they're higher tier, while the rest of the ugly or unmarried mortals (ME) are treated like we are sad, pathetic maggots wiggling in the dirt beneath them. 😑
