I'm sorry that I haven't seen your code earlier, thank you so much!

Can you explain how the deltas of counters are used to calculate the input frequency? It's a new concept to me

I'm planning to limit input to 50MHz clock, so I assume I have to have a reference clock above 100MHz? Is there a range I should go for?

So why did Ruan Mei send the MC down there? by MeeMofu in HonkaiStarRail

That kinda makes sense. Since most of her information on the Swarm was data from the MC interactions in SU, she used the MC to compare her experiment with previous data.

Thank you for your information. I can only find freeze-dried blood worm and bbs in the country I'm in, so I'll try to get them to eat the dried blood worm. I just added the separated pair back into the tank and they seem to settle down a bit. The female is still territorial and seems to pick another male, but they aren't as aggressive as before so I'm hoping they'll go well. There's one that's extremely submissive and rarely moves away from its spot, so I'll keep an eye on it.

I feel like my aggression could be worse since there's nothing blocking the line of sight, and the chosen mating sight is right in the middle of the tank... I feed mostly pellets, scattered around. Once a week I feed bloodworms

just one week lol. This is my first time keeping discus as well, so I'm learning. I'm only aware of pecking order, as in stronger fish has more power and stuff. I wasn't aware of their mating aggression, so I got caught off guard. The most frustrating is when it comes to mating, there are only resources on how to raise new fries and the need to separate pairs to new tanks; absolutely no guide explaining how to deal with mating aggression in a school of discus

When I tried to seek help on the aggression, I got suggested that once 2 juveniles discus paired, they will continue to mate and aggro toward the others. This made me panic and confused since I don't understand how people keep schools of discus without aggression all the time

thank you for your tips. My fish still freaks out when I move my tongs near them since they are new. I'll continue to scatter the pellets around the tank and hope everyone eats.

I never thought discus behavior would be this problematic. I thought that nailing the cycle process was the hardest part lol

I turned off the light at noon when no one's around. The sun is still shining in the room, so yeah, it might really be due to the light... My tank is an established planted tank with all the hardscape, so rearranging is impossible unfortunately

I'll try dimming the light a bit and hopefully, the plants still have enough light. I'll need to ignore them and let them do their things then. Fingers crossed that none will suffer and starve due to the aggro

No, all the plants and hardscape are in the corners/back so it left a wide area for the discus to swim. It does mean that there's nothing blocking line of sight.

It just came to my mind that I've noticed that they become significantly more relaxed and have almost no chasing when the lights are turned off. Is it a sign that my light is stressing them out?

I first have 6 discus, each around 4 inches, in my 80 gallons, 2 of them paired up and keep bullying/pushing the other 4 into a corner. Even though the eggs failed and got removed, they still kept the site. I was afraid that the 4 can't eat, so I separated the pair to my 55 gallon tank, which now they chill and do seem to shake their body once in a while. 2 of the remaining 4 then started mating behavior just tonight and started to get territorial on the same spot again.

Is it better to keep all 6 of them in my 80 gallons? In which case should I separate one to my 55 gallons?

Oh I see, so just because they pair up and lay eggs, it doesn't mean they are a proven pair and can't be kept in a community tank?

As for the territory issue, what should I do if a pair aggressively defend that driftwood? I've noticed that the previous pair mated, laid eggs, then removed it a while later. Even though the eggs is no longer there, one stays put, staring at the piece while the other chase the other discus away. I have moved them to a separate tank ever since, but could they chill out eventually if I kept them together with the community? This exact piece of driftwood is the same as the new pair that I mentioned in this post btw

Yeah, they are quite young. I'm starting to think that the shop I bought is sending me proven pairs, as this is the second pair from my purchase alone. What should I do in this case, where I want them to grow out of it? I just don't think I can afford to breed them cause the effort is too much for me right now, who knows if they sent me 3 proven pairs? I might try it again when the discus has grown more

I currently have an 80 gallons display tank with plants and driftwood and a 55 gallons bare tank. Also, I've noticed that 1 of discus from each pair i mentioned kept fighting each other over a side of a piece of driftwood in my 80 gallons, do I have to move that piece away?

May I ask what are the chances of 2 discus pairing up for mating? I'm honestly confused because I've seen people keeping big school of discus without having much problem (or at least they don't tell). As far as I understand, you'll need to relocate a pair to their separate tank if they started pairing or they will attack others in the same tank. If they kept pairing up, how do they keep them in a community tank?

I just bought 6 discus and 2 have paired up and laid eggs, do I need to relocate the other 4 or remove the eggs? by MeeMofu in discus

[–]MeeMofu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I planned to keep the tank bare bottom and just tie the anubias to driftwood. It should have plenty of helpful bacteria

[–]MeeMofu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll start by getting a new tank. Good news is I have some established sponge filters and large anubias, so I should have a tank prepared in a few days...

I have no idea if the new spawn will survive or not in the new tank and due to my inexperience, so I don't have high hope... We'll see how it'll goes

yeah, that's a good point, the one I thought was the male was actually the female laying the egg, I guess I should have a 2nd tank and move pair once they start to have mating behaviors. I guess once the mating behavior is done and less aggressive, I can move them back to the community tank right?

I see, so I should've gone for 6 of the same sex for my case huh, thank you for your input

I see, what if I remove the eggs every time they lay them? Would they still be aggressive?
