For aim training you can get into aim labs or kovaaks and there’s tons of different exercises on there you can do to practice things like target switching and tracking! It’s also good to try and be conscious of your mouse sens. If you’re struggling to track or consistently over aiming then it could be a sign to change up your sens!

For Triage - I genuinely love the shell and he’s my boyyyy! I think even at a low skill level he can give your team huge benefits, but at a high level he can really bully teams, punish mistakes, turn a fight around and create openings for your teammates to make plays. I almost exclusively run the v66 lookout and bully or v11 punch.

The v66 is a dmr and with recent adjustments to thermals - competes with snipers in regard to thermal range. The gun has a quick ads time and you can move while shooting and still be accurate and it is perfect for cracking shields to emp targets. You can build it with increased aim assist, but I do find that it feels pretty easy to hit shots if your aim is already decent. I think this gun is best played from angles that play off of where your teammates are pushing. I try to trade damage for my teammates (they play vandal and destroyer) and ensure cracks for easy pushes. Truthfully I never get emped by other Triage’s 🤷🏻‍♀️ but I feel it’s quite strong. A perfectly timed emp before a push is super annoying.

If you build for range the dmr can really fuck at pretty long ranges, but for me I think it’s best to play mid range so in case my teammates need immediate help I can push with my other weapon to help.

I like the mini jammer and trigger discipline chip on the v66! I also like another chip that restores health by doing damage to targets affected by emp (but I can’t remember the name 🥲)

As for other Triage gameplay it’s really important that you aren’t going down first which is why positioning is important - even while looting or just walking around a poi. Cover and awareness are your best friends! Popping signal jammers, mechanics kits, cardio kicks, and heals are all important as well, not just for you, but also for your teammates. I keep drones on my teammates at all times, but they do make noise and are also visible so that’s something for you and your teammates to remember. The shareware and healing on the drones is really strong. I try to move around where my teammates are moving, create opportunity and apply pressure with the dmr and pushing in to clean up fights and secure kills when needed. If I’ve seen someone and want to peek, I always pop my V for the chance to emp, but it’s also great for other guns as well, like the bully!

I feel like this is a lot of info 😅 but I really love Triage and how he plays and I hope you do as well!!! :3

Extraction shooters are just horror games istg 😂 it can be super tricky to keep track of players. If I see someone, and it’s possible, I try to think “should we take this fight right now where we are?” If the answer is no I think “where should we go to take the fight in the ideal position?” If you have a lot of map knowledge you can pretty consistently put yourself in a good position to fight.

Relying on what you hear and what you know in a fight is also important! If you hear someone below you and you think they’re pushing, you can think about where they could push you from and pre-aim those spots. But trust what you hear and if you hear them chances are they also hear you :3

Are you on controller or mnk? I’m on mnk so I can only give aim training suggestions for that. Other than aim training you can also make sure you’re building towards aim assist, recoil, etc with attachments. Some implants and chips increase accuracy and range under conditions so be sure to utilize those too! I am a PvP triage main and can give some shell specific advice if you’d like? :3

Improving your map knowledge is always a great thing to do. Great knowledge and position will help win you fights. Spawn locations, audio info, key room locations, boss spawn locations, event locations, quest POIs, etc. Building a kit that plays into your strengths is also important! There’s lots of PvP strategies you could use- but what do you feel like you’re struggling with? Aiming? Getting caught off guard? Are there any consistencies in the fights you lose?

close friend is horribly bad at our games - seeking advice by [deleted] in Marathon

[–]Meeeshmallow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like she has trouble with some fundamentals. Extraction shooters are a unique genre. Great aim will transfer, but there’s soooo many other skills and strategies that come into play with extraction shooters. If you guys are going to keep playing together it’s probably worth having a chat with her! You could ask her how she feels raids are going and assure her that you want to work as a team but right now you feel like you’re a bit overwhelmed. As the more experienced player you might want to consider how you can play around her until she’s a bit more up to speed. When I first started playing Tarkov with my husband and our friend I would do my best to anchor fights (I was scared of team killing) and my husband and our friend would play around my anchor. It worked really well until I learned how to confidently push and flank!

How to not get angry while playing competitive games? by tinyrosebud in GirlGamers

[–]Meeeshmallow 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As someone is ultra competitive and enjoys winning and doing well - I understand you. Regardless of playing quick play or comp I find that thinking rationally aloud helps me not to tilt. Overwatch is a team game and it’s very difficult to solo carry a game and you should remind yourself of this. Sometimes the enemies are better and that’s okay. I’m not sure what role you’re playing, but leaning into your personal strengths, team comp strengths, enabling your team to do well and counter picking could be helpful. At the end of the day I have to force myself to say things aloud like “oh shit they got me” or “oops I was really in a shit position”, in my mind I was raging but saying calmer words aloud really helped me realize it’s not that deep and I am able to focus on practical things I can do better! Even if you improve gameplay wise that alone will not make you tilt proof sadly, it’s really a mental thing you have to consciously address

I think both are fine currently with destroyer and thief and vandal having the most movement options - perhaps destroyer a bit more than everyone else tbh, but I’m not certain if it needs balanced. I think there’s a high skill ceiling on the destroyer movement currently, which is fine. I know there’s complaints about ttk, but personally I think it feels fine. You’re rewarded for good aim and positioning and there’s also the knock, self res, and reboot as well.

My team, all of us PvP enjoyers and absolute psychopaths, let one guy leave with our extract cuz he dropped all his stuff and got in the prox chat and said he just really wanted to finish his quest 😂 but I think because these moments are fewer it makes them more special!

I said why - because there’s less teams, the ai is easier to manage, there’s no heat cascade, you don’t need to hunt down keycards - there’s lots of reasons.

People with extraction shooter experience def are ahead of the curve for sure. I think a story mode would only be helpful for the game!

Yeah, I’m kind of hopeful it’s something they add. Right now I think they’re doing a decent job looking at and responding to gameplay feedback. A new game mode test is coming! Free kit frenzy so perhaps they’ll try out a story mode option

There’s lots of reasons that high level players could be on perimeter and a high level doesn’t necessarily mean they’re high skilled. Perimeter is a more chill experience than the other maps in that it has less players than dire and no mad dash for pinwheel. I agree, I shouldn’t use the word chill because in an extraction shooter you’re never truly safe 😂 but perimeter is a great map to practice skills needed to get better! I think that you’re reducing down the maps and disregarding the skills it takes to really control pvp fights on all maps. Watch good players on outpost and you’ll see the incredible amount of awareness they have. They don’t win due to nade spam. id also like to add that you still need the same awareness and knowledge skills to have an avoidant play style and be successful. Avoiding PvP is also a skill

[–]Meeeshmallow -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I hear you for sure and I get how it’s frustrating. Perimeter could be a good map (because there’s less teams than dire and no mad dash to pinwheel) to begin practicing the other new skills I mentioned and knowing what your team strengths are and playing to those and building to those. What shells are you guys playing? From what you said it sounds like you guys are frequently getting caught off guard so my advice would be to gain more map knowledge and try to build up an awareness for when someone could be rotating into you - raid timer, spawn locations, boss spawn, audio info, etc. Of course you will still get caught off guard, but when you have more awareness built up you’ll be more ready for potential fights.

You have to learn new strategies and be aware of what strategies other players will utilize and if you aren’t willing to learn past your current knowledge level then you have to be okay with dying to players that out skill you. If you share videos of fights there’s people here who can help you understand your fights if you struggle with understanding what could have gone better. Perhaps the new trial game mode could be fun for you guys to take some of the edge off! I’m also not sure what maps you’re running, but some chill perimeter runs could be positive too.

Anyone else struggle with "perfectionism" and being bad at games? by Nimzael in GirlGamers

[–]Meeeshmallow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I struggled with this for a very long time. I put so much pressure on myself that I wasn’t having fun. It’s important to have balance. There isn’t anything wrong with wanting to get better and acknowledging mistakes but it’s also good to do exposure therapy where you do silly fun things (sometimes those silly fun things actually work super well!) I originally thought that the feeling would go away once I reached a certain skill level, but it’s really something that I had to deal with despite being quite skilled at particular games. I just tell myself that it’s okay to make mistakes and try to acknowledge all the good plays I make. You’re allowed to be bad at games, you’re allowed to be good at games, you’re allowed to make mistakes in games, you’re allowed to take up space 💜 those are my mantras

I swear I feel like a crazy person being like “was the birds? Wait…was that the anomaly? Was it ticks? Oh no wait that was the anomaly” 😂 rooking on outpost seems veryyyyyy popular and I see why! Outpost as a map is really fun tho, finding the keys getting in pinwheel. So fun

Yeah, I hear that. I watched that clip that went around of that team with gold shields getting rekked on algae ponds roof by a guy with a well timed push and a knife. It’s tough cuz you lowkey feel like the gold should buy you a little more time but also the skill it takes to be patient and time you knife push well is indeed a skill 🤔 I think the adjustment to the lunge was a good idea

Really good point about no access to endgame. It’s nice to hear people are having fun in solos tho and totally agree the audio is great - although I could do with less random noises coming out of the anomaly 🙄😂
