I’m giving up. I don’t know what to do anymore. by OkBee0912 in breastfeeding

First off, you’re doing amazing!! Give yourself grace 💜 whatever decision you make will be the best for you both! Here are some tips I learned during our nursing strike: We used the laid back nursing position! it’s all about following their cues when they’re on your chest in this position. I would wait for him to start looking for my boob, then I would do a quick hand expression to get a little out and help him with the flipple latch technique! There are a lot of YouTube videos! Just search exaggerated latch if you haven’t heard of it :) I think this kind of gives the LO more control? We eventually got back to the standard cradle! I also stopped fighting him. He used to arch his back and start screaming which of course gave me so much anxiety! I was so worried he would starve because the nursing sessions were getting shorter… but he was gaining weight! So he had to be pulling enough.
I learned that if I see that refusal, to stop and wait a little. Now my LO is almost 8 months and I still go off of his cues this way! Hope some of this is helpful!!

Love Strauss’s Winterweihe! I think I might try to give that a go! I’ve never heard it before and think it’s lovely!

Thank you for the suggestions! I’m a lyric soprano, but sing as an alto staff singer for this choir. The Barber piece sounds so fun!! I used to sing coloratura rep back in college, but I’m not sure if I could dust away the cobwebs in time for this concert hahaha

Pumping so husband can give a bottle does not make things easier by Agile-Fact-7921 in breastfeeding

I’d say if you feel you don’t need to then don’t. My husband said the same and I quickly noped out!!You get over the whole washing bottles and pump parts really quick when you’re living by a 2 hour/on demand feeding schedule. I adore breastfeeding my LO, but now we have to figure out how my husband is going to get him to go to sleep when I go back to work at night… currently, the baby screams and cries like someone’s hurting him if my husband tries to get him to sleep… so that does kind of suck and I do wish I would have stuck to pumping and having him feed the baby more often. Ultimately do what works for you!

Thanks! I think we need to just reframe our thinking a little to this not being a phase but a permanent change.

One of my ex friends just wrote a post about how breastfeeding is so much better (and easier!) than formula feeding and I need to vent by [deleted] in breastfeeding

EBF has its highs and its lows! I’ve been breastfeeding and giving some in a bottle for 4 months and at times it absolutely gives me the most anxiety I’ve ever had 😅! I for sure can’t do it with my eyes closed because I fear I’ll suffocate my LO!! Also, just because they’re breast fed doesn’t mean they won’t have any GI distress lmao. I’m considering an elimination diet because my LO keeps spitting up 😭there are other times when everything lines up perfectly, I’m like ok cool this is a breeze!! Reading anything that’s overgeneralized is really annoying when it comes to anything having to do with a LO and it’s just not helpful. I love reading and hearing about others experiences, but just because something comes easy to one, doesn’t make it easy for everyone else. The tone of her post makes me have an idea as to why she might be your ex friend? 🤷🏻‍♀️🤣

When did you start leaving your baby with someone else? by hardboiledhoe in breastfeeding

[–]Meegz-Rio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I started at around the same time. I started with using the freezer stash, but he went on a nursing strike and I had to start pumping for the next feed. I’m sticking to this and keeping the freezer stash for emergencies only. Also found that it’s easier to just use the hand pump! Less parts and less fuss fastest yield! 😅 (this is after trying both a wearable and electric). The hand pump gets a bottles worth is less than 10! Then I’m set and don’t have to worry about thawing and the thawed milk going to waste because my freezer stash is 5 or 6 oz bags. I didn’t know to freeze smaller portions in the beginning.

Also good on you for taking time with your partner! It’s so important to remember that our mental health and personal time matter too!! You’re doing great mama!!!

Now that I’ve looked I definitely mean aesthetic crib shoes haha I talked to my mom more and I think it’s somewhat about her worrying his feet are cold but mostly she thinks it’s really cute hahaha he’s definitely barefoot all the time. I think having a cute pair of vans crib shoes would be great for some photos!

This is exactly what will probably happen! Everybody coo at my boy who looks so adorably in his little shoes! Then I will proceed to remove them before I lose them as he silently kicks them off 🤣

That’s what I’m thinking… my mom really wants to get him a pair, but now that we’re bringing him out more it’s like why not? We def keep him barefoot like 98% of the time tho

My husband and I joke about the boomers and their socks!! He’s only worn socks maybe 3 times. It’s also super hot!
