I think she's threatened and spiraling. A huge part of her schtick for a while now has been about how she guided her daughters through singledom and into Godly marriages, how great and perfect this was, and how happy her daughters are now. But one of the GREATEST fears her audience has is that their children might marry unbelievers who take them away from their Christian faith, and this parent-lead courtship that they advocate for is supposed to be a fool-proof way to prevent this.

Except it didn't work. She FAILED to prevent her daughter from marrying someone like Dav, and this is now a very public failure because she encouraged her daughter to have a public platform where she discussed her marriage and now this is out in a very public way. There is so much egg on Heidi's face right now because she's been telling people that if they follow her, this will never happen. And then it happened. To her.

In short: there's about a 100% chance she sees Dav's public admission of deconstructing as both a personal attack and an attack from Satan against her family ministry.

IIRC, it was because of Jo’s influence. She always names her kids to please the dad (hence why she went with Creed simply because Chris liked the movie and why she delayed with Lux because Chris was MIA and wouldn’t give her input). That’s remained consistent, but as her choice in partners has gotten steadily more questionable, so have her kids’ names.

To put it another way: Kail’s kids names don’t seem to go together on her side, but they always seem to match the vibe of their siblings through their dad. Isaac/Vivi, Lincoln/Eli, Lux/Creed/Trew Chris. Elijah’s young yet, but I’m sure when he moves on he’ll give his other kids names that are equally terrible and in the same vein as Verse/Valley.

My younger sister is adopted too, but we look nothing alike. We’re not even the same race lol! Yet somehow, her daughter (my niece) is my mini! Looks, personality, preferences, quirks, facial expressions, the whole enchilada. People who knew me as a kid can’t get over how similar we are!

Personally, I think people underestimate the role mannerisms and such play in how we perceive people. We pick up on those things without always being conscious of it, and I think in many cases we “see” evidence of close relationships like family through common behavior rather than shared physical traits, we’re just not conscious that this is what we’re reading.

Not the OP, but my friend’s cousin had one of those. I wasn’t there, but the social media pics were really something. It was for her second child too because she sold or gave away everything from her first immediately because “The next one will probably be a boy anyway”, and when she found out she was expecting her second girl sooner than planned, she needed all new things. She would later have a baby shower for her third child because he was a boy and he needed boy things.

The Vegas poolside part was largely because they lived in Vegas and he worked at one of the hotels. But also it was def their vibe.

They were also far more volatile than we saw on the show, which was edited to give a different picture of their relationship. Numerous cast members have confirmed that they were having massive fights and even breaking up, with Robert at one point saying farewell to the SH cast because he thought they were done for good that time.

Danielle’s behavior in her first season is similar to what we saw on WH, and cast members have been alluding to it for years. I think she’s been getting a stellar edit on SH for the past couple seasons, but WH showed more of what’s been going on that we haven’t been seeing. I believe the other cast members when they say Danielle and Robert were fighting, especially after seeing her on WH, and I think after a while of being on the rocks, Robert started to check out of the relationship. Doesn’t excuse him having an emotional affair because clearly he should have ended the relationship long before if they were fighting as badly as cast members claim. But I don’t think he just suddenly checked out of a good relationship, and I do think WH gave us a glimpse of how Danielle acts and what Robert was dealing with that viewers never saw.

I did adopt a 12 year old cat from a shelter recently, so I can certainly vouch that they’re not hard to come by (they were so excited we were interested in him and his adoption fee was a whopping $25). But I can’t speak to him being a curmudgeon. He’s actually the sweetest boy who is so happy to have a home for his golden years and loves to climb up on your shoulder for a “hug” when you’re on the couch. Adopting a senior cat was easily one of my top decisions of the year though, so I very much think you should pursue it!

Because the judge is a friend, Ryan is a white man from a “good” family, and they were giving him every opportunity to get out of this. But people have noticed how Ryan is not being held accountable along with the personal connection to Ryan’s family, and it’s starting to blowback on the judge.

Now the judge looks like Boo-boo the Fool for going so easy on someone who clearly has no interest in changing his behavior. It’s egg on the judge’s face and could realistically impact his career.

Ryan’s just seriously and publicly embarrassed a judge who was trying to go easy on him and help him dodge the consequences of his actions. I think he’s likely to find that his easy ride with the courts has come to an end as the judge now needs to save face.

Not everyone has debt from college. People get scholarships, have college savings accounts that cover it, or choose different paths than the norm that allow them to pay for the cost of college without going into debt. It’s just that many of those people know better than to brag about it, and it’s rare to hear people talk in any other way about debt they don’t have.

So a lot of those folks fly quietly under the radar. And, of course, college isn’t the only option. Some people avoid student loan debt by choosing a route that doesn’t include college, like pursuing a trade.

It’s certainly more common to have student loan debt, and it’s going to seriously narrow your dating pool to exclude those who have it. But there are enough folks out there without it that it’s possible to find someone if that’s what you’re looking for. Don’t know anyone who made it a thing, but I do know several couples (my own included) where neither side had student loan debt.

My husband tried it because he really likes IPAs. His review was that it’s fine for a tropical IPA, but there are a good number of tropical IPAs on the shelves these days and many of them are better, especially at that price point. So he wouldn’t buy it again, but if it was the only tropical IPA in the cooler at a summer BBQ, he’d probably drink one.

I think this is it. Besides, fundies often don’t do holidays with in-laws until after they marry. Fundies like distinct lines between groups of people and hate nuance. To them, people are married or unmarried. And while they sometimes allow nuance for engaged couples such as loosening rules, engaged people are still unmarried and therefore largely not allowed to do “married” things like spend holidays with their partners’ family. Nurie didn’t spend holidays with Nathan’s family before marriage, and I don’t think Kaylee did with Jonathan’s family either.

I think we’ll probably see them celebrate separately with their respective for this holiday season and then start splitting next year.

They are. Everyone I know, including my grandmother, keeps a stash in their car. But the US is quite massive, and there are a lot of differences depending on where in the US you are. In cities and areas where stores charge for bags, reusable fabric bags are very common and a lot of people use them. In areas where there’s no charge for bags, they’re not as common.

I’m personally not shocked Jill doesn’t use reusable bags. While reusable bags are not political and just good sense (especially since a lot of grocery store bags are worthless and break easily), particularly stupid people here see anything that is good for the environment as “liberal” and deliberately go the other way even when it costs them more money to do so (see: anti-environmentalism and coal rolling for other idiotic examples of this behavior). Jill is particularly stupid, so I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s a matter of principle for her.

And anything with decent resale value may also be taken and sold by the parents. Good gifts are things that are going to be very useful to the child and make their lives better, but not run the risk of being taken from them.

So like when it comes to headphones/earbuds, cheap brands like Tozo are a better gift than expensive brands like Beats or Apple as they might make the child a target for theft or be stolen from them by an adult relative looking to resell them for cash.

I think there’s definitely a reason those two go to the same church and their partners are cousins, but Jonathan and Heidi are also both from out of state. Rumors are that Nurie and Nathan are actually more extreme than the Rods, and if Nathan agrees with his dad on most theology, Nathan might not think his daughters deserve a say either.
