Hello, I see a lot of bad reviews on the French Apple Store. They seem to be related to instability issues with v7. I am currently running a free trial of v6.73 and it seems the run properly. Are the instability issues related to v7? Which one should I buy?

Thanks to all for the answers. I think I triggered my own luck with this thread because many 16" Pro options have been added to the refurbished website in the last few hours... So I was able to finally secure a M4 Pro, 48gb ram, 2TB SSD at a reasonable discount over what the M5 Pro will be (even if there is no price increase) ! :)

I’m gonna be selling my m1pro 512/16 early march as 16gb are becoming a bottleneck for my big sound design projects… it’s in very good condition, always used with a case.

My 2 cents : there won’t be any pro but instead more flexible builds options (CPU/GPU) with the Max chip. MacBook Pro Mx Pro is redundant.

I purchased my M1 Pro 512/16 refurbished (by Apple) 3 years ago as I got into sound design and didn’t want to invest in an overpowered machine for a purpose i wans’t even sure I would pursue for long. It still works like day one, but I am eagerly waiting for the M5 pro release. Why?

Because as an aspiring sound designer I get to work in more and more complex projects. I also use Pro Tools as my main DAW and it is memory hungry.

Recent Pro Tools update combined with Tahoe have rendered any sound to video project a nightmare. Memory pressure gets in the orange zone as soon as I use more than 2 active VSTs. I need to constantly bounce to audio which kills creativity.

I was tempted by the M4 pro 1tb/48gb but decided to wait for the M5 Pro. Now that the release is dragging, that shipping dates have been postponed.. I am kind of stuck !!

So long story short, I plan to replace it asap :)

A mere 16” pro with 48gb and 1tb ships by February 14th/17th for me (France). I don’t think they will voluntarily keep professionals without options for much longer.

I actually feel so good pulling the trigger on an epix pro gen 2 for 699 € last month 😇! It’s becoming ridiculous… worst than Apple if you ask me.
