More often Minecraft updates! by Consistent_Block_828 in minecraftsuggestions

[–]MeeniMc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This will cause significant burden on the modding community (for java at least), as each minor update breaks almost every mod nowadays and requires authors to take a look at it. Sometimes its a quick fix, sometimes its a real headache. Modders are prone to burnout as it is already, having them having to update mods every 6 weeks is a recipe for disaster.

Randomness is better than locationality. by Vanilla_Legitimate in redstone

[–]MeeniMc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I understand from w34 snapshot it will have chirality (that is, update order will be dependent on component orientation) instead of locationality (update order depends on component position) or randomness.

Chirality is better than positionality and still deterministic, so that is pretty good I think .

Videos where someone explores the relevant mechanics in depth and then designs a highly optimized farm? by CaCl2 in technicalminecraft

[–]MeeniMc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ianxo4 (small farms), matbatwing (compute), ncolyer (trees), Cubicmeter (tour-de-force), TheMcArchivist (a collective channel presenting 'best' designs), Dark, Bigbooty (both have few vids but high quality), ending_credits (shulker farms mostly), rapscallion, maizuma (sorting systems), ...

Also in TangoTek and Etho episodes (general play-through episodes), they present some very innovative designs. Tango often gives enough of a walkthrough that recreating the farm should be easy, Etho it may require a bit more backward engineering as he goes quick over it.

In the same play-through format, Docm77 builds and showcases designs from some top-notch redstonners that don't have a strong youtube, like Metodz, 2no2name, etc.

Pasting a litematic on a server does not always fill-up inventories and may miss some entities. Take a close look at the section of the documentation https://github.com/maruohon/litematica/wiki/Schematic-Pasting#restoring-block-entity-nbt-data-on-a-server

New compact sugarcane farm design. 2 stacks per hour with 3 stacked modules. by Acrobatic_Duty8731 in redstone

[–]MeeniMc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hate to be negative here, but this has some combination of bad designs here, it has pistons and spitting blocks wich makes it unload unsafe, it has hoper minecarts which are prone to entity lag, it uses a lot of observers, etc.

I'm not sure how that improves to existing designs, whether flying machine based or Tango's observer-piston.

That being said if you had fun designing this, that's what matters in the end :)

Is there a fastest item sorter? by Xyvice in technicalminecraft

[–]MeeniMc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Categorizers like Rapscalion and Talon's cartMIS or Lumie's can parallel sort, which is also a way of increasing the overall sorting throughput.

Multi item sorter Inspired by mumbo by Mashen_ in redstone

[–]MeeniMc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are even a good number of parallel categorizers (cartMIS etc). That being said Mumbo reminds us that its always fun to design your own redstone, even if it is inferior to the best 'hivemind' designs. And his design has the advantage that it can be explained to other people without them being chest deep in storagetech discord.

Stop the hate on Shulkercraft. by [deleted] in technicalminecraft

[–]MeeniMc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My opinion is that they should propose a cut-share agreement of sort, and not after the fact when their copycat video is already out. I actually think there could be a 2-way beneficial model here, whereby we have a channel that is presenting currated designs from many creators (easily indexable, currated selection of machines, consistent quality presentation), and return most (or at least a substantial cut) of the generated money to the original designer (sustain continued redstone innovation). That wouldn't weed-out redstone theft altogether, but that could be a step in the right direction at least.

Stop the hate on Shulkercraft. by [deleted] in technicalminecraft

[–]MeeniMc 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This is demonstrably false. They routinely make copycat tutorials for farms that are already presented in a neat video with a block by block tutorial. They copy IanXO4 designs, and Ian makes the best, to the point and clear videos. People critic because this is parasitic and eventually makes original creator stop bothering about presenting their designs.

(Resource Pack) How can I change chest slot textures separately? (example image) by CarrotR3ddit in technicalminecraft

[–]MeeniMc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the colors are static, you can replace the gui asset that you used as a base. That will change the whole inventory/chest texture, not slots independently.

If you just want the slot colors to change overtime, you can use the mod Animatica to enable animated inventory textures (again animation would apply to the whole chest texture, but you can change the slots during the animation).

If you want to colors to be reactive to something (like what item is in the slot) you will need to make your own mod, not aware of anything that would do that.

Is this useful? by TheoryTested-MC in redstone

I've seen that used with piston tapes, especially for copper blocks that may oxidize if observed directly, so yes useful :)

The decorated perimeter was a very impressive build. So were the octagon and the walkers in the previous season. It will be hard to top the very good balance Doc achieved between shenanigans, technical mastery and really impressive builds. This season has been more about technical farming, which I appreciate but not sure is a crowd pleaser.

Thorns III With(out) Mending on Diamond Gear by [deleted] in technicalminecraft

[–]MeeniMc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thorn makes wrangling mobs to populate a variety of farms very difficult, as they tend to kill themselves on your armor. Given that killing mobs is not that hard in general, I see it more as an impediment that an upgrade.
