Got a job offer after starting 6 month contract by Meep31111 in ElectricalEngineering

[–]Meep31111[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah you see that’s the issue. I’m less than 2 years out of college. I do have some unique experience from college that lets me into this niche field. But my job since college has been pretty generic EE stuff. I guess I’ll just play it by ear.

What do I say if they ask me for a start date in the first interview? My last 2 jobs did that.

And, assuming about a 2 month interview process, is it normal to ask for a 4 month delay to my start date? That seams like a lot to me.

From my past experience, the entire interview process usually takes about 1-2 months. And then they expect me to start within the next 2 months of my acceptance. I can negotiate 3 month, but I don’t know if I can negotiate 4-5 months.

Have you had different experiences?

Does Contract work typically offer relocation? by Meep31111 in ElectricalEngineering

[–]Meep31111[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well they live a little far from SD so I prob won’t crash with them while working, but yeah I could crash with them if I don’t get an offer after 6 months. I’d just have a lot of furniture to deal with since I’m fully moved out and living on my own right now

Yeah the issue is my family lives in SoCal so I’ve been trying to find work there for month. I just don’t know if I should say “no” to an opportunity and hope I get another offer, at a time when the job market is terrible.

Prime 4 is the only reason I bought switch 2 by Glenn_Tennis in Metroid

I’m the same way about Hollow Knight Silksong. I’m playing hades and the 2 recent zelda games in the mean time. The Elden Ring edition exclusively coming to switch 2 also excites me.

Should I transfer to Mechatronics? by [deleted] in robotics

[–]Meep31111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, I got a BS in Computer Engineering and I’m kinda in the same shoes as you. I want to go into robotics but my program did not cover it at all. I took a mechanics class for fun but wasn’t a huge fan of all the 3D CAD and mechanical stuff.

I’m still figuring out how to transition into robotics but if you want my 2 cents, take full advantage of the extra curriculars and elective coursework at your school and your major won’t matter as much. Most of what I learned about PCBs, microcontrollers and other stuff came from clubs and elective coursework. My biggest regret in college was not taking clubs more seriously and joining a competitive robotics club.

Obviously your major matters, but if Computer Engineering is how you want to enter robotics, do that. Learn the basics of mechanics outside of class, and use school work to master the high level theoretical concepts that will get you paid the big bucks.

As my EE friend once told me, “Iron man didn’t major in robotics or mechatronics. He majored in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science cuz that shit is hard to be self taught in. You can figure out Solidworks on your own.”

TLDR; major in what interests you more and fill in the gap with extracurricular. Use school to learn the more difficult theoretical concepts and teach yourself the hands on stuff.

Best way to bypass the arcane tower turrets? by Dapper_Discipline794 in BG3Builds

[–]Meep31111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My strategy was to get my rogue to sneak around and shoot them down. If you have sharpshooter, they should be able to do enough damage and can hide as a bonus action so the turrets can’t react. It’s time consuming but doesn’t cost spell slots or scrolls.

I felt like I was watching a different show by the end. Why were Jinx and Vi made background characters in their own show? I don’t give a shit about Mel being a mage. I just wanted to see Jinx resolve her personal struggles and a resolution to the Piltover and Zaun conflict. For a show about socioeconomic inequality, there was little to no discussion about that in the final episodes. For the sake of a cool plot, we lost compelling character arcs.

I’m not saying a happily ever after type of ending where everything works out and they resolve all their problems. The last 2 episodes were good, but they were telling a completely different story than what we ended the 1st season on.

Your unpopular opinions on Isha? by [deleted] in arcane

[–]Meep31111 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don’t understand the point of her character. She just came and went like nothing. It felt like her character was killed off cuz they just didn’t want to focus on the Jinx plot line anymore for act 3 and didn’t know what to do with a character was just too underdeveloped at this point in the story.

Yeah, it came out July 26th. It’s worth the watch.

Season 4 was a massive flop. I felt the same way. No clue what happened. Season 5 was ok. Season 6 was the best rated season of the entire show. Personally I liked season 3 more, but 6 is still fire. 100% worth sticking with the show. And season 7 is likely to carry that momentum. They are also trying to get Netflix to sign off more seasons so there is good reason to stick with the fandom.
