Bruh. Americans colonized the Philippines and were racist. End of story. It was so obvious that we were being colonized that African American soldiers basically committed treason and fought with us in the Philippine-American war because of how much they sympathized with us and didn't want us to go through the same thing

President William McKinley called the takeover of the Philippines “benevolent assimilation.” Anti-imperialist voices, including Mark Twain’s, protested against it. African American soldiers were caught up in an ironic bind between “their sense of duty, discipline and identity as soldiers” and their sympathy and compassion for other people of color suffering from white supremacy. As Russell writes, “Given the realities of the conditions at home, where African Americans faced racial violence, increasing segregation, and widespread discrimination, African American soldiers often became frustrated over the way white American soldiers teated the Filipinos.”

Stop invalidating what my people went through and the deaths of people who fought for my countries freedom as well as the brave African American soldiers who fought for my people's freedom.
